Take on twisting woodland trails and serious terrain in one of our Land Rover Discovery TD5s with this adult 4x4 driving experience. Whether you're navigating mud, water, steep climbs or side slopes, you'll be in control, with expert guidance from a BORDA-trained instructor. Choose from a range of durations to suit your group and bring passengers or other drivers along at no extra cost.
After arriving at the site and checking in, your group will meet your instructor and get a short introduction to the session. The instructor will then take you out for a brief five-minute demonstration drive to showcase the vehicle’s capabilities and cover the key driving techniques you'll need. From there, it’s over to you. The rest of the time is fully hands-on, with you and your guests taking it in turns behind the wheel while the instructor rides alongside, offering coaching and support as needed. Every twist and turn offers a new challenge—from steep gradients and off-camber sections to deep puddles and muddy sections—all designed to push your confidence and skills further.
Vehicles are hired per session, meaning you're in charge of how the driving is shared. Whether it’s just you at the wheel or shared with up to five others, everyone stays in the vehicle throughout the experience. Child passengers are welcome, though you’ll need to bring and fit your own suitable car seats. Both manual and automatic Land Rovers are available, and you'll be driving on purpose-built trails within private woodland. With no need for a driving licence, it’s open to all adults looking for a new kind of off-road challenge.
Our 4x4 course is set just off the A617 in Nottinghamshire, near the village of Farnsfield. The tracks are part of private woodland, offering a real mix of terrain to keep drivers engaged throughout their session. The surrounding area has a classic countryside feel, with easy access from both Newark and Nottingham.
Please be aware that sat navs can be unreliable when locating our exact site. We recommend aiming for the A617 towards Newark—once you reach the A614 roundabout, we're just 200 yards along the A617 on the left. Look out for signs and staff to assist on the day of your visit.
No driving licence is required, but participants must be at least 18 years old to take part in the driving. Anyone under this age is welcome as a passenger, including children, provided a legal child seat is fitted by the responsible adult.
Drivers should wear clothes they don’t mind getting dusty or a bit muddy, along with suitable footwear. You’ll be driving in a vehicle with others, so comfortable clothing and shoes with good grip are advised.
The team is passionate about giving people a proper off-road driving experience—without the need for special training or licences. The woodland course has been purpose-built to be both challenging and fun, with expert instructors who support you throughout, whatever your confidence level.
Each session is personalised to your group, whether you want to get competitive, take it steady, or let everyone have a go. With the option to bring friends and family along at no extra cost, it's a brilliant way to do something different together and leave the tarmac behind for a while.
No, a driving licence is not required to take part in the experience. As long as you're 18 or over, you’re welcome to drive one of our Land Rover Discovery TD5s under the guidance of a qualified instructor. This makes it a great opportunity for those who haven’t yet passed their test but want to try something more adventurous.
The session is conducted entirely on private land, and all driving takes place off-road, so there’s no legal requirement for a licence. Your instructor will give you a safety briefing and a short demonstration drive to help you get comfortable before you take control of the vehicle yourself.
Yes, you’re welcome to bring passengers or other drivers with you, and there is no extra charge for doing so. The cost of the session covers the vehicle, not the number of people, so you can bring along friends or family up to the session’s capacity limits.
The vehicle can take up to six people including the instructor, depending on the session length you've booked. For example, the 30-minute session allows for up to two passengers/drivers, while the three-hour session can accommodate six. Everyone remains in the vehicle throughout the drive.
Each session is per vehicle, so the minimum number of participants is one driver. You don’t need a group to book—it can just be you and the instructor. However, the maximum number of people depends on the session length, with longer sessions accommodating more participants.
The 2-hour and 3-hour options are best suited to groups of 3–6 people to allow enough drive time for everyone. You can switch drivers during the session as long as you're within the allowed group size. If you're unsure which duration best suits your group, we’re happy to advise.
Our course is set in private woodland and offers a real mix of terrain. You’ll drive through narrow forest tracks, up and down steep slopes, across water-filled dips, and along side-angled surfaces that test the vehicle’s balance and your control.
It’s not about speed or racing—this is a technical driving experience. You’ll need to concentrate, listen to your instructor, and adapt your approach to each section. Whether you’re navigating muddy tracks or climbing a slippery incline, every stretch of trail offers something different.
Once you arrive, you'll be greeted by our team and introduced to your instructor. After a safety briefing and explanation of the vehicle controls, the instructor will drive for the first five minutes to demonstrate how to handle the course and give you a feel for the terrain.
Then it's over to you or your group to take turns driving. The instructor remains in the vehicle at all times, offering support and guidance. Sessions start promptly, so please arrive a little early to make the most of your time behind the wheel.
Children are welcome to attend as passengers, provided they have a legal car seat appropriate for their age and size. You must bring and fit this yourself, and the child must remain in the seat throughout the drive.
They won’t be allowed to drive but can enjoy the ride as part of your group. The off-road course is bumpy and uneven in parts, so please consider whether your child will be comfortable with this type of experience before bringing them along.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little muddy or dusty. Footwear should have good grip—avoid sandals or open-toed shoes. Layers are a good idea as the weather can change quickly, and woodland areas can be cooler than expected.
You don’t need to bring any equipment or safety gear—we provide the vehicle and instruction. If you’re bringing children, make sure to bring a properly fitted child seat and any essentials they might need for a couple of hours outdoors.
We use Land Rover Discovery TD5s for all our off-road driving sessions. These are reliable, capable 4x4s that are well-suited to the challenges of our woodland course. Both manual and automatic versions are available.
If you have a preference, just let us know when you book. We’ll do our best to match your request, though it’s subject to availability. Either way, your instructor will show you how to handle the vehicle before you start driving.
Yes, there is free parking available at the meeting point on Kirklington Road, near Farnsfield. We’re located just off the A617 heading towards Newark—200 yards from the A614 roundabout. Once you’re nearby, look out for signage and our team.
Please note that sat navs don’t always take you to the exact entrance, so it’s a good idea to double-check the directions beforehand. We suggest allowing a bit of extra time to ensure you arrive on schedule and don’t miss any of your session time.
