Rather than a single fixed route, this stay links together a series of hikes that showcase the variety of the Verdon region. Days include narrow paths carved into limestone cliffs, forest tracks above the gorge, and longer traverses with open views across the canyon. Walking is the main focus throughout, with optional route variations allowing you to adjust distances or difficulty depending on how you feel. The balance between effort and flexibility makes this trip well suited to confident hikers who enjoy independence but still want a structured framework.
This is a self-guided trekking holiday, meaning you walk independently using provided route notes and maps. Each day offers a clearly defined hike, with start and end points arranged around your accommodation. Evenings are free to relax, review the next day’s route, or explore nearby villages. The trip runs over six days and five nights, giving enough time to settle into a rhythm without rushing between stages.
This itinerary is built by people who know the Verdon trails in detail and understand how to link the best sections into a coherent week of walking. Routes are chosen for their interest rather than just distance, and alternatives are included where weather or energy levels suggest a change of plan. Support is discreet but reliable, giving reassurance without removing the sense of independence that makes self-guided trekking appealing.

Rooms are arranged among a sequence of gîtes, chalets and auberges as you move through the Verdon. Each is chosen for proximity to your trailheads so daily treks start and end close to your lodgings. Comfort is practical — warm showers, fresh linens and social areas allow you to rest and prepare.
Meals can be included to match your preference (half-board or full-board depending on booking). Evening meals often showcase local ingredients and regional recipes that reflect the character of the area.
This trek is open to anyone aged 16 or older. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Daily hikes involve uneven terrain and moderate elevation changes, so youth should be prepared for sustained walking over multiple hours. Guides adjust pace and offer support to ensure safety.
A moderate level of fitness is recommended. Hikes range from ridge-top trails to canyon floors, with periods of steep inclines or rocky paths.
Endurance, balance, and comfort on varied terrain improve the experience, though guides provide options for adjusting pace to suit the group.
Accommodation is in mountain lodges, chalets, or auberges along the route. Rooms vary but provide comfortable sleeping arrangements after long days of trekking.
Shared or communal spaces allow for relaxing and socialising. Meals feature local ingredients and traditional dishes to reflect the region’s culture.
Breakfast is included daily, with some lunches or dinners featuring local cuisine depending on the lodging.
Extra meals or snacks can be purchased locally. Guides provide recommendations for regional specialities and support dietary requirements where possible.
No prior hiking experience is required. Guides provide instructions, safety briefings, and support throughout the trek.
Basic outdoor skills such as walking on uneven surfaces, using trekking poles if desired, and staying hydrated are beneficial.
Trail lengths vary each day, typically ranging from 4 to 8 hours of walking including breaks. Guides adjust pace to match the group’s energy and skill level.
Some days include shorter loops or scenic stops to observe wildlife, take photos, or enjoy local culture.
Sturdy hiking boots, layered clothing, a backpack, reusable water bottle, sun protection, and snacks are recommended.
A rain jacket or windbreaker may be necessary depending on the season. Guides provide a detailed checklist before the trip.
