After breakfast, drive from Arusha, Moshi or Marangu to Marangu Gate, where you'll complete registration before beginning your trek. Walk through dense rainforest to Mandara Hut, keeping an eye out for blue monkeys and colourful birdlife.
Overnight: Mandara Hut
Leave the rainforest behind as you enter open moorland, enjoying expansive views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding landscape on your way to Horombo Hut.
Overnight: Horombo Hut
Continue across the alpine desert known as the Saddle, the broad plateau between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks, before arriving at Kibo Hut. Rest early in preparation for your summit attempt.
Overnight: Kibo Hut
Shortly after midnight, begin the final ascent to Gilman's Point (5,681 m) before continuing to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.
Overnight: Horombo Hut
After breakfast, complete your descent through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificate before transferring back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
We will give you more information ahead of your trip with us, but as standard, we recommend the following packing list for our trips:
Tip: Make photocopies or digital copies of your passport, visa, flight tickets and insurance documents. Leave one copy with someone at home and keep another separate from the originals.

Winter: May to August. Temperature: 19°C to 25°C.
Rainfall: April-May (long rains) and November to mid-December (short rains).
