Qualify to teach windsurfing through this intensive RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor course held in Perry, Cambridgeshire. Over five full days, you’ll gain the knowledge and hands-on experience required to deliver the RYA Start Windsurfing programme and Youth Stages 1 and 2. With structured guidance from experienced trainers and a final day of assessment by an external moderator, this course sets you up with everything needed to instruct with confidence.
Across the five days, you'll focus on both the technical and instructional aspects of teaching windsurfing. Early sessions cover how to structure lessons, deliver effective briefings, and adapt delivery to suit age and ability. Classroom elements help build confidence in theory delivery, while water-based sessions offer practical experience in demonstrating skills and managing a group afloat.
The course also allows you to sharpen your own windsurfing technique, particularly in intermediate non-planing conditions including beach starts and gybing. As you work through the programme, you’ll receive detailed feedback on your teaching from the course trainer. The final day involves an external moderation where you’ll be assessed on your readiness to qualify as a Start Windsurfing Instructor.
