The tour explores Castel Gandolfo, Monte Cavo, Rocca di Papa, Marino, Grottaferrata, and Frascati in the Castelli Romani region. You’ll ride through volcanic hills, vineyards, olive groves, and forests, experiencing a mix of natural landscapes and historical architecture.
Castel Gandolfo offers panoramic lake views and historic villas, while Frascati provides insight into Roman nobility with vineyards and gastronomic delights. Along the way, each village presents opportunities to enjoy local cuisine, wine tastings, and cultural landmarks.
Accommodation is split between Castel Gandolfo and Frascati, with double rooms at carefully selected local hotels or estates, including breakfast. Each property is chosen for its charm, comfort, and proximity to the starting points of your cycling routes. Luggage transfers are provided between hotels and the estate, ensuring a hassle-free experience while you explore the Castelli Romani.
The accommodations combine historical character and modern amenities, giving you a relaxing base after each day of cycling. Staying here allows you to fully enjoy the region’s natural beauty, historic villages, and culinary experiences without worrying about logistics.
You should have basic cycling experience and be comfortable riding electric bikes on mixed surfaces including asphalt and dirt. You must follow guide instructions, wear helmets, and be prepared for moderate physical activity over three days.
If you have any health conditions or physical limitations that might affect your cycling, please notify the guide in advance. Riding safely and enjoying the experience depends on your ability to cycle comfortably for short distances with gentle inclines.
The tour is led by local guides who bring the Castelli Romani to life through history, culture, and gastronomy. Small group sizes ensure you receive personal attention while exploring scenic villages and vineyards.
Electric bikes make cycling manageable while reducing environmental impact, and included transfers, luggage handling, and tastings create a seamless, immersive experience. You’ll leave with memories of panoramic views, historic towns, and authentic regional cuisine.
Light rain doesn’t affect the running of the tour, so the activity goes ahead as planned. Participants are offered complimentary waterproof ponchos to keep them comfortable throughout, and the guide adjusts the pace if needed to suit the conditions. Many groups enjoy the experience just as much in gentle rain, especially with the extra layer provided.
More severe conditions, such as heavy rain or thunderstorms, mean the tour cannot run safely. If this happens, the session is cancelled and the full amount paid is refunded. Safety is the guiding factor in these decisions, and updates are passed on as early as possible so participants know exactly what to expect.
We welcome a wide range of ages on our e-bike tours, and the equipment provided is matched carefully to each rider. Younger children can join using either a rear baby seat for ages 1–5 (up to 20 kg) or a trailer bike for ages 6–9, both of which are securely attached to an adult’s e-bike. From age 10 onward, children may ride their own e-bike if they have solid independent cycling experience and are at least 140 cm tall, though we generally recommend independent riding from age 11.
There are also a few upper limits to keep everyone safe and comfortable. The maximum recommended age for participants is 75, and the weight limit for any rider or equipment setup is 100 kg. These guidelines help ensure each bike performs as intended and that every participant enjoys a smooth and controlled ride.
Our regular tours operate with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 participants, which keeps each outing comfortable and well-paced. These small-group limits apply to standard daily departures, ensuring riders receive plenty of guidance and support from the team throughout the experience.
For larger parties, the capacity expands significantly. The centre is fully equipped to organise multiple groups at the same time and can handle single bookings far above the usual numbers, with the ability to accommodate up to 80 participants in one coordinated session. This structure allows big groups to enjoy the same quality of service while moving through the route smoothly and safely.
Electric bikes make cycling through the Castelli Romani hills accessible even if you have basic experience. You’ll ride at a comfortable pace with support from the guide.
Safety instructions and helmets are provided, and the guide can adjust the route or pace to match your ability.
Bring comfortable, layered clothing suitable for cycling and weather changes, rain gear, and sturdy shoes. Sunglasses, hat or bandana, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a water bottle are recommended.
A small backpack, personal medicines, and a phone charger are useful for convenience. Helmets are included with the e-bikes.
Breakfasts and some dinners are included, along with wine and food tastings at the farm. Other meals and beverages are not included, giving you flexibility to enjoy local eateries.
You may also want snacks for energy during rides and water to stay hydrated throughout the day.
You stay in B&Bs or 3* hotels in Castel Gandolfo and Frascati. Hotels may request a credit card for incidentals, and dietary requirements should be communicated during booking.
Requests for extra nights or upgrades should be made in advance.
