Over two action-packed days, our expert instructors will guide you through the fundamental elements of whitewater kayaking. From mastering boat control to understanding river dynamics and safety protocols, we'll equip you with the skills needed to navigate Grade 2 whitewater confidently.
Designed around our innovative 5 Elements of Whitewater Kayaking model. the course focuses on these aspects:
Nestled amidst the scenic landscapes of Llangollen, the River Dee offers the perfect setting for honing your whitewater skills.
Ideal for confident flat water paddlers with basic boat control skills, participants should feel comfortable in a closed cockpit kayak with a spraydeck.
Prior experience in paddling straight lines without a rudder is beneficial for maximising your learning potential during the course.
At our centre, we're dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching environment for your whitewater journey. With tailored instruction and a passion for adventure, we ensure that every participant leaves feeling motivated and empowered to take on new challenges both on and off the water.
This course is designed for confident flat-water paddlers with basic boat control skills.
If you're comfortable in a closed cockpit kayak and can paddle straight lines without a rudder, you're ready to join us!
Bring your own kayak, paddle, spraydeck, buoyancy aid, helmet, wetsuit or drywear, and suitable river shoes. Don't worry if you're missing something; equipment hire is available for £25 per day.
While prior experience is beneficial, it's not mandatory. Our instructors will tailor instruction to your skill level, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Ideally, this course is designed for paddlers ages 18+.
However, junior paddlers aged 16 and over are welcome to join any of our open training courses, provided they have the required skill level.
We may also extend this offer to paddlers aged 14+ in certain circumstances if we know them and they are mature for their age, and this may be decided case by case.
Please just get in touch and we will see what we can do. We may also be able to arrange a bespoke option incorporating younger paddlers if we conclude that it would not be appropriate to join this specific trip.
