This two-day course is ideal for paddlers who are ready to take the next step into coaching. Open to all disciplines and levels of experience, the training focuses on developing the core foundations of coaching in paddlesports. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refresh your skills, this course will guide you in building a personalised development plan and applying effective coaching methods.
Across the two-day practical course, you’ll take part in a range of interactive workshops and on-the-water sessions. The training explores the full learning cycle, helping you better understand how to support paddlers through their development. You'll learn how to structure practice, adapt for different learning needs, and create sessions that encourage progression and confidence.
In addition to developing coaching strategies, you’ll spend time reflecting on your own coaching style and creating a plan for continued growth. Tutors will guide you through how to use reflective practice as a tool for improvement and how to tailor your coaching to meet a wide range of goals. If you're considering a Coach Award in a specific discipline, support will also be given to help you plan your next steps.
The course takes place on a variety of accessible flatwater venues across Somerset, including Cheddar Reservoir and Clevedon Marine Lake. Final details and directions will be confirmed after booking.
All venues are selected to suit the needs of the course and to provide a safe, engaging learning environment for all attendees.
To attend this course, you must be at least 16 years old and hold Full Membership with Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing).
No prior coaching experience is needed, making it accessible whether you're new to coaching or returning after a break.
