Fourteen lodge days take you from Kathmandu to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 metres and back, with a Poon Hill sunrise and a soak at Jhinu. Airport pickup starts the trip, a tourist bus runs both ways between Kathmandu and Pokhara, and groups stay between 1 and 15 people from age 12. An English-speaking guide stays with you from the terminal through the walk out to Nayapul.
A representative meets you at Tribhuvan International Airport and takes you to a Kathmandu hotel. The next day you'll take the tourist bus to Pokhara, about six hours, then drive to Nayapul and walk through Birethanti to Tirkhedhunga. The following day climbs the stone staircase through Ulleri to Ghorepani, and an early start takes you to Poon Hill for sunrise on Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu before the walk on to Tadapani.
You'll follow the Modi Khola to Chhomrong, drop the stone steps to Bamboo, climb past Hinko Cave to Deurali, and walk through meadows to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 metres. From ABC you look at Annapurna and a ring of 7,000-metre peaks. Dawn and dusk at the sanctuary are the high nights of the trip.
The walk out drops to Bamboo, then to the hot springs at Jhinu, and finishes with the drive to Pokhara and the bus back to Kathmandu. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included on the lodge days. Hotel days include breakfast as listed. An English-speaking guide, permits, and the listed lodge nights are part of the trip.
The sanctuary sits inside the Annapurna Conservation Area, from bamboo and oak around Nayapul to alpine meadow at base camp. Poon Hill is the sunrise ridge above Ghorepani. Chhomrong hangs under Himalchuli, and the Modi Khola is the river you follow into the high amphitheatre.
Kathmandu and Pokhara are the hotel cities at each end of the walking days. Jhinu is the hot-spring village on the walk out. You start and finish at Tribhuvan International Airport unless you are already in a Kathmandu hotel.
You should be happy walking five to seven hours on stone steps and forest path, then sleeping in lodges for a week and a half. Previous high-altitude trekking is not required.

Lodge beds are booked before you leave Kathmandu, together with Annapurna Conservation Area permits, tourist-bus seats, and an English-speaking guide who stays from airport pickup through Nayapul. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the lodge days are arranged with those teahouses, so you are not bargaining for a room after the Ulleri staircase.
Our desk in Lazimpat has been sending walkers into this sanctuary since the early 2000s. Groups stay at 15 or fewer so the steps out of Chhomrong do not stack into a queue, and the guide will hold a walking day if the sanctuary path is unsafe.
