Your session begins with an introduction and safety briefing where you’ll meet your instructor and discuss your goals for the lesson. Next, we’ll set up the equipment, ensuring you’re fitted with all the necessary gear, or using your own if you prefer.
On the water, you’ll practice paddling techniques, manoeuvres, and essential safety skills under the guidance of our expert instructor. Throughout the lesson, you’ll receive personalised feedback and tips to help improve your kayaking skills.
Whether you’re learning the basics or mastering advanced techniques, our structured approach ensures you get the most out of your time on the river.
The River Dee is the perfect place for your first kayaking adventures. As it winds from its source in Snowdonia to Liverpool Bay, it navigates through great lakes, beautiful meandering flats, man-made waterfalls, and natural rapids from whitewater grade 1 to grade 4.
Our calm water activities take place in the city of Chester, where the River Dee flows past the city's famous historic 1st-century Roman walls and meets the incoming tide from the sea.
No prior kayaking experience is necessary. Basic swimming ability is recommended, however we will supply a buoyancy aid for your safety.

We also provide comprehensive equipment, ensuring you have everything you need for a great session on the water.

Our kayaks PVC heavy-duty inflatables. Picture a single-person white water raft. These are fun, stable, spacious and easy to steer.
This style of kayak offers the user all of the light-hearted fun and freedom of being in a raft, with the added satisfaction and control of a kayak.
While paddling on calm water our boats are EXTREMELY unlikely to capsize.
Session times are inclusive of signing in and gearing up, and can be expected to begin at your allotted start time.
If you arrive early your instructor may still be on the water with their previous group or preparing for your activity.
If you are early and you identify your instructor, please feel free to go over and say hi, as it may be that you can begin to get ready.
