Predominantly Mediterranean climate with oceanic wetness in the north and semi-arid zones in the south-east; high meseta and multiple mountain chains create local extremes. Landscapes range from Pyrenean granite towers and Picos limestone to Canary Island volcanoes and Atlantic/Galician fjords. Sports include: sport climbing (Siurana, Chulilla), surf and kitesurf (Tarifa, Mundaka), Camino de Santiago cycle-touring, ski-touring in the Pyrenees, canyoning in Sierra de Guara and deep-water solo round the Balearics.
