What is the National Coasteering Charter?
The National Coasteering Charter (NCC) is the UK body that promotes safe, sustainable commercial coasteering. It sets operating standards for providers and accredits guide training so that sessions on rocky coastlines are led with consistent risk management, environmental care and group leadership skills.
NCC-accredited qualifications such as the Coasteering Guide Award are the recognised route for leading paying groups along intertidal routes: scrambling, swimming and jumping in dynamic sea conditions under structured safety protocols. The Charter works alongside sector bodies; many operators also hold separate NGB awards for wider outdoor work.

Choosing a course
Coasteering Guide Award expects strong personal coasteering experience, open-water confidence and valid sixteen-hour outdoor first aid. Tide, swell and site knowledge matter as much as jumping ability. Leave a comment when you book with your first aid expiry and recent coasteering experience if you are unsure about readiness.
Training and assessment are weather-dependent. Compare whether centres bundle accommodation, kit hire and NCC membership fees. adventuro shows where you can book; the provider confirms local site access, ratios and assessment windows.
