Intibucá is La Esperanza and high Lenca country. Cooler again, quieter than Copán Ruinas, and more about village-to-village walking than a single headline ruin. You'll come if you already like the west and want another highland block, not as a first-timer's only stop.
Village trails and cool-season walking
Hiking here is agricultural highland: tracks between fields, pine, and weather that can turn quickly. It's beginner-friendly on shorter days if you have a guide who knows which paths are public. Nights are cold. Pack a layer you'd laugh at on Utila.
How it fits a trip
Pair with Copán and Lempira. Skip it if your week is islands and Pico Bonito only. Open the Book here tab for walks that actually start here.
