Lempira is Celaque and the Lenca highlands around Gracias. Honduras's rooftop is here: cloud forest, cold nights and a summit day that earns its fitness grade. Gracias is a small colonial town, not a tourist strip. You'll come specifically for the park, then maybe add Copán.
Celaque summit and cloud forest
Start early. The trail is long, rooty and wet even in the drier months. Guides matter for route and weather. This is hiking with altitude and mud, not a ruin circuit. An overnight in the park is more comfortable than stuffing the summit into a Copán day trip.
