High above the Genal Valley, this via ferrata route in Benadalid follows a steep and exposed rock face that demands both physical effort and focus. The climb covers vertical sections, overhangs and airy traverses, all set against wide views stretching across multiple mountain ranges. It’s a more demanding route designed for active participants looking for a stronger challenge in a natural mountain setting.
Briefing and equipment fitting take place before moving towards the base of the rock face where the route begins. Early sections introduce the vertical system with fixed cables and iron steps as the climb quickly gains height above the valley floor.
Steeper sections follow with pronounced overhangs that require more strength and careful movement along the rock. The route alternates between vertical ascents and exposed traverses, with continuous safety attachment and clear guidance from the instructor throughout each section.
Upper sections open into wide panoramic viewpoints across the Genal Valley, Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Bermeja and, on clear days, towards Gibraltar. The descent follows a controlled path back to ground level after completing the full ascent.
Benadalid sits within the Genal Valley, an inland mountain region known for its steep terrain, chestnut forests and deep river valleys. The via ferrata is set on a natural rock formation that rises sharply above the surrounding landscape.
The wider area connects to several major mountain ranges in southern Andalusia, including Sierra de las Nieves and Sierra Bermeja. The elevated position of the route provides long-distance views across valleys, peaks and distant coastal areas.
A strong level of physical fitness is required due to the vertical nature of the route and presence of overhangs. The activity is aimed at participants who are active and comfortable with sustained climbing effort.
Previous via ferrata experience is helpful but not essential, although confidence with heights and exposed terrain is important. Full instruction is provided throughout the climb.
Outdoor activities are built around showcasing the varied mountain landscapes of southern Spain through structured and well-guided experiences. Each route is led by qualified multilingual guides who focus on clear communication and steady support.
Strong emphasis is placed on safety systems, technical equipment and carefully selected routes that match different ability levels. The aim is to provide controlled access to more demanding natural environments while maintaining a professional and well-managed experience.

Previous via ferrata experience is not strictly required, but good fitness and comfort with height are important. The route is more demanding than introductory climbs.
Guides provide full instruction and supervision throughout the activity.
A helmet, harness and via ferrata lanyard system are provided for the climb. These remain attached to the fixed cable system at all times.
Equipment is fitted and checked before starting the route.
The route offers wide views across the Genal Valley, Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Bermeja and distant coastal areas. Elevation gain provides changing perspectives throughout.
