Come underground to discover a whole new side of Mallorca. This horizontal dry cave adventure is family-friendly, fun, and gives you the chance to explore a lesser-known part of the island. Led by expert instructors, you'll scramble through ancient limestone formations and navigate wide chambers and small crawl spaces—no previous experience needed.
After meeting your instructor and kitting up, you’ll head out to one of Mallorca’s hidden dry cave systems near Llucmajor. A short walk takes you to the cave entrance, where you'll be given a full briefing on how the activity works, including movement tips and safety advice. Once inside, you’ll begin your guided underground adventure.
The route takes you through varying sections of the cave—some narrow crawl-throughs and squeezes, some large echoing chambers, and areas where the walls glitter due to mineral deposits. There are no vertical descents or rope work involved, making this perfect for beginners and families alike. Your guide will point out interesting rock formations and help you understand how the caves were formed over thousands of years. It’s a hands-on, low-level caving experience that allows you to build confidence while enjoying something completely out of the ordinary. Expect a little mud, plenty of laughs, and the kind of memories that last long after your trainers have been hosed down.
Based near Llucmajor on the south side of Mallorca, this dry caving tour takes place in one of the island’s less-travelled limestone cave systems. The area is away from the more tourist-heavy parts of the island, giving you a more peaceful setting with a real sense of discovery.
The caves themselves are horizontal, meaning there's no need for technical equipment or rope skills. This type of system is ideal for newcomers or families who want to experience a genuine underground environment without pushing physical limits too far. Being dry, they’re also a great option outside the hottest summer months.
No prior experience in caving or potholing is required, as this tour uses horizontal systems that don’t involve rope work or technical climbing. Participants will be shown everything they need to know at the start.
A reasonable level of general fitness is needed, and you'll need to be comfortable crawling, squatting, and scrambling over uneven surfaces. The caves are safe but can be muddy, so be prepared to get a bit messy.
The centre offers one of the most accessible caving experiences on the island, with expert instructors who make the underground world feel exciting but also safe and well-supported. Everything is kept beginner-friendly, without taking away the raw feel of real caving.
Sessions are small group only, which means more attention from guides and a more personal, flexible experience. The caves used are off the typical tourist trail, offering something that feels authentic and adventurous without needing specialist skills. With kit provided and options for young children, it’s a great way to try something new in Mallorca.
Dry caving takes place entirely underground without any swimming involved. You’ll be walking, crawling, and scrambling through dry limestone systems. Sea caving, on the other hand, includes swimming through cave entrances and often takes place along the coast. If you're looking for a water-based version of the activity, the sea caving experience might suit you better.
Dry caving is ideal for those who want the underground challenge but prefer to stay out of the water, especially in cooler months. It’s also a better choice for younger children or anyone who might not be confident swimming in enclosed spaces.
You don’t need to be an athlete, but a basic level of fitness will help. The tour involves some crawling, climbing over rocks, and squeezing through spaces, so being agile and able to move comfortably in tighter areas is important.
It’s not a race, though—guides will go at the pace of the group and support anyone who needs help. If you can handle a moderate hike and aren’t claustrophobic, you’ll do just fine.
While the cave system includes a few small sections where you’ll need to crawl or duck, most of the route is made up of wider chambers and more open spaces. The design of the tour keeps it beginner-friendly and avoids any truly tight squeezes.
The guides know the cave system very well and will always offer alternative paths if someone isn’t comfortable with a certain section. It's all about building confidence gradually.

There’s no water involved, and kids tend to love the sense of exploration and being able to scramble around in a real cave. Parents often say it’s one of the highlights of their holiday.
Wear long trousers and a long-sleeved top that you don’t mind getting dirty. Trainers with good grip are essential—no sandals or flip-flops. A small backpack with water and a snack is also recommended, especially if you're on a morning session.
All technical equipment, such as helmets and torches, will be provided. If you’re prone to feeling the cold, a lightweight thermal layer can also help, as temperatures underground stay cooler even in summer.
Yes—horizontal dry caving in Mallorca is very safe when done with trained guides. The caves used have been selected specifically for their safety and suitability for beginners. There are no vertical drops or areas that require technical rope use.
Your instructor will carry safety equipment and is qualified to deal with all aspects of the tour. Safety briefings are given before entering the cave, and the guide will support you throughout.
