What to Expect

Your touring bike is designed with a comfortable upright riding position, a lightweight aluminium frame, and seven gears, making it ideal for navigating the city’s varied terrain. Whether you’re riding along the beachfront, weaving through Gothic Quarter alleys, or heading up to Montjuïc, these bikes offer smooth handling and adjustable components to suit your height. The ergonomic design helps reduce fatigue, so you can stay out longer and enjoy more of what Barcelona has to offer.

You’ll receive two locks – a ring lock and cable lock – and helpful guidance on how to use them effectively. E-bikes, when booked, include a third lock for added peace of mind. Each rental also includes front and rear safety lights for visibility in low-light conditions, and anti-puncture tyres to reduce the chance of mid-ride issues. Optional extras like helmets, panniers, baskets, and child seats are available for an extra cost, so you can tailor your ride to your plans. The shop also offers free Wi-Fi, cold drinks, and extended hours, making it easy to fit bike hire into your schedule.

Location

Both rental shops are centrally located in Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella district – perfect for quick access to key bike routes, pedestrianised areas, and popular sights. Carrer de Montserrat 8 is just off La Rambla and a short ride from the harbour and seafront promenades.

The C/ dels Tallers 45 location is near Plaça Universitat, putting you in close reach of the Eixample grid, with plenty of dedicated cycling lanes, local cafés, and less crowded streets ideal for exploring.

Prerequisites

Riders must be at least 160 cm tall for touring bikes. All participants should feel comfortable cycling in an urban setting and be prepared to follow local traffic laws.

Basic knowledge of how gears work is helpful, especially for longer routes or hillier areas like Montjuïc. Child and youth bikes must be hired separately.

Veelgestelde vragen:

What is included in the bike rental?

When you hire a bike, everything you need for a smooth and enjoyable ride is taken care of. Each rental includes a high-quality, Dutch-made bicycle that is carefully maintained and thoroughly checked for safety and performance before each use.

You’ll also receive two locks—a frame lock and a cable lock—so you can secure your bike properly when not in use. For electric bikes, a third lock is provided for extra security. As part of the service, you’re welcome to use the free Wi-Fi available in the shop, and staff are always on hand to answer any questions or offer local cycling tips.

What bike sizes are available?

We have a range of bike sizes to suit most people, whether you're tall, short, or somewhere in between. Our city bikes are available in two adult frame sizes, designed to accommodate a wide range of heights.

To ensure the best possible fit, all bikes come with adjustable saddles and handlebars, which can be fine-tuned to your height before you set off. If you’re unsure which size you need, our team will be happy to help you choose and make the adjustments for you on the spot.

For younger riders, we also stock two different sizes of children’s bikes. These can be viewed/booked via the link at the bottom of this page.

How do I lock the bike securely?

Although Barcelona is considered one of the safer European capitals, bike theft can be a problem, which is why we provide strong, reliable locks with every rental. Each bike comes with a built-in ring lock as well as a separate cable lock.

If you're renting an e-bike, a third lock is provided for added peace of mind. The recommended method is to use the ring lock to secure the back wheel and frame, and then use the cable lock to attach the bike to a fixed object like a bike rack, gate, or sturdy post.

If you’re cycling as part of a group, it’s also a good idea to chain the bikes together using the cable lock. Always double-check that the locks are fastened correctly and never secure your bike to something that can easily be moved or broken.

What should I wear when cycling?

Comfort and practicality are key when deciding what to wear while cycling around Barcelona. Choose clothing suited to the day’s weather, but make sure it allows freedom of movement. Lightweight, breathable materials are ideal in warm weather, while layering is useful if it’s cool—especially in the mornings or evenings.

You might start off feeling chilly, but after a few kilometres, your body temperature will rise, and you may want to remove a layer. Avoid tight or restrictive clothing, especially trousers, as these can become uncomfortable on longer rides. Footwear should also be suitable for pedalling—trainers or flat-soled shoes are best.

Are there any areas in Barcelona where it’s not safe to cycle?

Barcelona is generally a very safe place to cycle, with well-developed infrastructure and a strong cycling culture.

There are no specific areas that should be avoided altogether. However, as with any city, it’s wise to use your judgement. If a street feels too quiet or isolated at night and makes you uncomfortable, it’s best to take a more active or well-lit route. Sticking to marked cycle lanes and busier streets after dark is always a safer option.

Where am I allowed to park the bike?

While cycling in Barcelona is easy, parking your bike correctly is important to avoid fines or your bike being removed. You should always aim to use designated bicycle racks, which are widely available across the city. These racks provide a secure place to leave your bike and help keep footpaths and roads clear.

Never park your bike in the road, on pedestrian crossings, or in the middle of the pavement where it could obstruct others. In high-traffic areas such as train stations or busy plazas, be especially careful to use the marked bicycle parking zones. If in doubt, ask the rental staff for recommended locations.

What type of touring bikes do you offer?

Our fleet includes lightweight hybrid touring bikes ideal for long-distance city and countryside rides.

Each bike is equipped with pannier racks, lights, and a comfortable saddle designed for extended use. We also offer models with step-through frames for easier mounting.

How far can I go with the bike?

You can cycle as far as you'd like within the hire period. Many customers take our touring bikes to the coast, the Collserola hills, or even on multi-day trips across Catalonia.

Just make sure to return the bike within your agreed hire window unless you’ve arranged an extension.
