Highland Night Swing – A 40m Drop Into Darkness

Yes, there are optional media packages available to capture your experience. You can choose a photo-only package, a video-only package, or a combined photo and video bundle. Each is priced per person and recorded by staff using mounted cameras positioned at key points along the session—whether that's the bungee platform, zip line run, or landing zones.

The photo package includes a selection of high-quality action shots taken at the most exciting moments. The video option features edited clips that capture your reactions and the activity from start to finish. If you’d like both, the combined package offers the best value and can be purchased upon completion of the activity.

This is a high-adrenaline swing suspended 132 feet above the River Garry, but with one major difference—it takes place at night. You’re hoisted up and released into total darkness, creating a sense of free fall with no visual reference of the ground, trees, or the arc ahead. You don’t see it coming, which makes the experience more intense and unpredictable.

Unlike a rollercoaster where you can brace for every twist, the blackout swing removes all warning signs. It’s just you, your senses, and the rush of the wind. After the drop, the swing carries you back and forth across the gorge before you're gently winched back to the platform. It’s safe, fast, and very different from anything you’ll do during daylight hours.

First-timers are absolutely welcome. No previous experience is needed, and the team will walk you through every step of the process. The swing is mechanically controlled and operated by trained professionals, so once you’re strapped in, your only job is to hold tight and enjoy the ride.

That said, it’s not a mild introduction. The darkness adds an extra level of intensity that some find more daunting than a regular swing. If you like the idea of doing something bold and unusual, it’s a brilliant first adventure. If you’re nervous, the instructors are great at putting people at ease without pressure.

You’ll be secured in a full-body harness and clipped to the swing mechanism. Once all safety checks are complete, you’re hoisted backwards and upwards until you're hanging in place above the gorge. Then the crew will give you a countdown—and without warning, release the swing.

The drop is instant and silent. You fall fast before the rope catches and you sweep forward across the gorge. You’ll swing back and forth several times before gradually coming to a stop. It’s a rollercoaster sensation but much more raw, especially when you can’t see what’s coming next.

Yes, spectators are welcome and often add to the experience with cheers and nervous laughter. The area isn’t floodlit, so they’ll need to bring torches to safely navigate the trail to the viewing spot. Warm clothing is also a must, especially outside of summer months.

While they won’t see every detail of the swing, they’ll definitely hear the reactions and feel the atmosphere. It’s a brilliant experience to share—even from the sidelines. Watching someone take the plunge in the dark can be just as entertaining as doing it yourself.

Participants must be at least 10 years old. There’s no upper age limit, but anyone over 65 will need to provide medical clearance from their doctor. This ensures they’re physically able to handle the swing’s demands.

Weight-wise, the minimum is 35kg and the maximum is 120kg. This includes the harness, which weighs around 2kg. These limits are in place to keep the swing balanced and operating safely, and the team will check all participants before the session begins.

Dress for the weather and wear something comfortable. Close-fitting clothing like leggings, joggers, or activewear is ideal. Layers are useful, especially in the evening when temperatures drop quickly. Avoid bulky jackets that might interfere with the harness.

For footwear, trainers or hiking shoes are perfect. You’ll need something that fits securely and won’t fall off during the swing. Avoid flip-flops, loose sandals, or anything without a firm sole. Scarves and dangling accessories should be left behind or removed before your swing.
