🥾 What to Expect

Planning begins before boots touch the ground. Routes are discussed based on fitness, experience, and what you’d like from the day, whether that’s covering distance, gaining height, or moving steadily through varied terrain. Weather, ground conditions, and visibility all play a role in shaping the final plan, ensuring the day feels purposeful rather than forced.

Once on the hill, the pace is set to suit the group. Time is taken to read the landscape, understand the terrain underfoot, and move efficiently without rushing. Stops are used not only for rest, but to talk through navigation choices, weather interpretation, and how to move confidently across uneven ground. For those wanting instruction, these moments become practical learning opportunities rather than classroom-style teaching.

Longer days allow for deeper exploration, linking ridges, summits, and remote valleys into a more committing journey. Night walks, sunset ascents, and early-morning starts can also be built in, adding a different perspective to familiar ground while maintaining a steady and considered approach throughout.

📍 Location

Spread across County Donegal, the terrain ranges from broad rolling hills to sharp ridgelines and rugged mountain interiors. This diversity allows routes to be matched carefully to both ability and ambition, with options that feel wild without being overwhelming.

Exact meeting points and routes are chosen close to the date to ensure the best possible conditions. This flexibility means comfort, safety, and enjoyment remain central to the experience, whatever the weather brings.

✅ Prerequisites

Hillwalking days are suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness and an interest in spending time outdoors. No previous navigation or mountain experience is required for guided walks, as everything is adapted to suit the group.

For instructional days, content is adjusted to your existing knowledge and future goals. This allows learning to progress naturally without pressure or unnecessary complexity.
