Seeing Florence after dark changes the pace and feel of the city. This evening bike tour focuses on neighbourhood life, riverside riding, and a relaxed aperitivo stop, offering a social way to explore once daytime crowds ease.
The tour begins in the historic centre with bike fitting, lights and headset setup, and a short briefing on riding at dusk. From there, you’ll head towards the Arno, using riverside paths where possible to enjoy reflections on the water and quieter riding away from traffic. The pace is relaxed, with frequent pauses for explanation and photos.
The route moves through neighbourhoods that come into their own in the evening, including San Frediano and Santo Spirito, where locals gather in squares and cafés after work. Riding continues into the San Niccolò area, passing beneath its historic tower gate and into streets known for food-focused bars and informal dining.
Midway through the tour, you’ll stop on the riverbank for an aperitivo picnic, including a glass of Tuscan wine and a selection of regional produce. The final section heads towards Sant’Ambrogio and Santa Croce, an area associated with nightlife and late-opening venues, before finishing back near the centre.
The meeting point is in Florence’s historic centre, within easy walking distance of the Duomo and central squares. Starting centrally allows the route to flow naturally towards the river and neighbourhoods south and east of the core.
Evening riding benefits from reduced traffic and cooler temperatures, making Florence more comfortable to explore by bike at this time of day.
All participants must be able to ride a bicycle independently and feel comfortable cycling on cobbled streets and shared roads. Children are welcome provided they are confident riders and accompanied by an adult for the entire tour.
Child seats are available in limited numbers for standard bikes only; tag-alongs and trailers are not permitted on this itinerary. E-bikes are not compatible with child seats. Pregnant guests are strongly advised not to ride due to uneven surfaces. A government-issued photo ID and credit card are required.
This tour is designed around atmosphere rather than distance. Riding in the evening allows you to see Florence at a slower pace, with a focus on neighbourhoods where locals spend time after dark.
Combining cycling with a guided aperitivo stop creates a social, informal experience. With small groups and local guides, the emphasis is on ease, context, and enjoying the city as it winds down.
