This guided bike tour is a practical way to see Florence’s main sights in a limited amount of time, without relying on constant walking. Riding at a steady pace with a licensed local guide, you’ll cover historic squares, river crossings, and neighbourhoods while building a clear understanding of how the city fits together.
The tour starts with bike fitting, helmet allocation, and a short briefing on riding safely in Florence’s historic streets. The pace is controlled and designed to suit mixed abilities, with regular stops for explanation and photos rather than long stretches of riding.
You’ll cycle through Florence’s historic core, linking major landmarks with quieter routes where possible. Stops include views of Florence Cathedral and the civic centre around Piazza della Signoria, where the guide explains how politics, religion, and art shaped the city. Riding allows you to move efficiently between sites without losing context or orientation.
The route also crosses the Arno to explore Santo Spirito and the area around Palazzo Pitti, offering a contrast between monumental Florence and everyday local life. By the end of the tour, you’ll have a clear mental map of the city and practical advice on where to return on foot.
The meeting point is in Florence’s historic centre, a short walk from the Duomo and well connected to the main sights. Starting centrally keeps riding distances short and avoids unnecessary traffic-heavy approaches.
Florence’s compact layout means this route covers a wide range of landmarks within a manageable distance, making it suitable even if you’re short on time.
All participants must be able to ride a bicycle independently and feel comfortable cycling on cobbled streets and shared roads. Children are welcome provided they are confident riders and accompanied by an adult for the full tour.
Child seats, tag-alongs, and kids’ bikes are available in limited numbers for standard (non-electric) bikes only. E-bikes are not compatible with child equipment. Pregnant guests are strongly advised not to ride due to uneven surfaces. A government-issued photo ID and credit card are required.
This tour is designed to give structure and confidence rather than rushing between landmarks. Cycling keeps the group moving efficiently while still allowing time for explanation, discussion, and photos.
With licensed local guides and small group sizes, the emphasis is on context and orientation. You’ll leave knowing how Florence works as a city, not just where the main sights are.
