A packraft is a small one-person boat that fits the narrow upper Mrežnica better than a full-size raft, so you paddle your own line under a guide rather than sitting in a crew of six. The day starts with a practice paddle on a quiet pool, then you drop a six-metre fall, a three-metre double fall and a string of rapids over about six kilometres. You need to be twelve or older, and no prior river experience is required.
You'll start in Primišlje in your own packraft, with a few minutes on a quiet lake so the boat feels familiar before the canyon. Then it's the upper Mrežnica: a six-metre drop, a three-metre double fall, and a run of rapids through water that's too tight for a full-size raft. You paddle your own line while we stay with the group and call the way.
There's a stop at the big waterfall to swim or jump if you want, then the canyon keeps going, tight and clear, for about six kilometres. A short van ride drops you back at the same meeting point so you can change and head off.
The upper Mrežnica sits inland from the coast, near the Plitvice area, and the meeting point is in Primišlje, postcode 47240. The canyon here is tighter than the lower river, which is why packrafts are used instead of a large raft. Karlovačka county is the district, with Karlovac and Duga Resa as the nearest towns for a bed and fuel.
You put in above the first falls and finish about six kilometres downstream, then ride back to the village. Bring your own car to Primišlje unless a transfer is on your booking. The base is in the village, not at the mid-canyon swim stop.
You must be at least twelve and happy to paddle your own boat after a short practice. Everyday fitness is enough, though you will get wet and you should be comfortable in moving water with a buoyancy aid on. No packraft or kayak experience is expected.
The six-metre drop and the double fall are part of this route, so skip the trip if you are pregnant, carrying a serious injury or unwilling to go over those features. The guide can help you line up, and taking part is always subject to their call on the day.
Guides on this stretch already know the upper canyon lines and how the packrafts behave on the falls, so the briefing is specific to this boat rather than a generic raft talk. Kit is fitted in Primišlje, and you practise on flat water before the first drop so the first rapid is not also your first paddle stroke.
Morning and afternoon starts are available, which helps if you are staying near Plitvice and want the river either side of a park visit. The van returns you to the same meeting point, so you are not left to find the village from the take-out.
A packraft is a small inflatable boat for one person, closer to a tiny raft than a sit-on-top kayak. It is used here because the upper Mrežnica is too tight for a full-size raft in places.
You paddle and steer your own boat while a guide stays with the group. The briefing and the practice pool are there so the first waterfall is not also your first time in the craft.
No. The morning or afternoon starts with a safety talk and a practice paddle on a small lake so you can feel how the boat turns before the first fall.
You should still be twelve or older and willing to paddle your own line. If you want a shared boat with a child, the canyon kayak trip is the better fit.
The minimum age is twelve because each guest paddles their own packraft. That is the same rule as the Una raft day and the Zrmanja packraft, and it is higher than the family kayak trips.
Anyone under eighteen should come with a responsible adult. If someone in your group is close to twelve, check with us rather than on the bank.
Allow about three hours from meeting in Primišlje to the van back, covering roughly six kilometres of river. That includes the briefing, the practice pool, the falls and the return ride.
Starts are in the morning or the afternoon, which helps if you want the river either side of a visit to Plitvice.
The six-metre fall and the three-metre double fall sit on this route, so this is not a flat-water paddle you can skip the features on. The guide helps you line up, and you will have practised on the pool first.
If you do not want those drops, the lower-river raft and kayak day is the gentler fit.
The meeting point is in Primišlje, postcode 47240, on the road through the village. You kit up there and return there after the take-out.
Bring your own transport unless a transfer is on your rate. There is space at the base to leave a car while you are on the water.
Wear shorts or a swimsuit with a T-shirt, and bring shoes that can get wet, a towel and a dry change. Sun cream, water and a snack are useful on a three-hour river day.
Leave phones dry at the base. The packraft, paddle, buoyancy aid and helmet are supplied.
Yes, four guests. If your own party is smaller you may still run if other bookings that day make up the number.
If the minimum is not reached you will be offered another time or a refund. Tell us your headcount when you book.
A normal shower rarely stops the day, because you were going to get wet on the falls anyway. The briefing still happens at the base.
The trip is only moved when the river or weather is outside what is safe. If that happens you get another date or a refund under the one-day terms.
Eight or more days before, there is no charge. Two to seven days before, half the booking is charged. One day before or a no-show is charged in full.
If we stop the trip for safety, you are offered another date or a refund under the same one-day terms.
