Watch the Chianti Valley unfold beneath you as you drift quietly above vineyards, rolling hills and historic villages on an unforgettable hot air balloon flight. With experienced pilots, spectacular scenery and a celebratory breakfast after landing, this early morning adventure offers a memorable way to experience Tuscany.
Your exact meeting point, meeting time and Google Maps location will be sent after the final weather check, usually the afternoon or evening before your flight. Launches generally take place near San Casciano in Val di Pesa, around 20 minutes from Florence, although the exact location is chosen according to the day's weather conditions. Optional hotel transfers can be arranged in advance for an additional charge.
After meeting your pilot and ground crew, you'll receive a safety briefing before watching the balloon inflate. If you'd like to get involved, you're welcome to help prepare the balloon before climbing aboard. Once airborne, you'll spend around an hour floating above the Chianti Valley, taking in views of vineyards, olive groves, castles, cypress-lined roads and traditional Tuscan villages. Every flight follows a different route as the balloon travels with the wind, making each experience unique.
Following a gentle landing, you'll celebrate the flight with a glass of Champagne and a picnic-style breakfast featuring fresh croissants and local products before the included transfer returns you to the original meeting point.
Flights operate within the beautiful Chianti Valley, with launch sites selected according to the weather conditions on the day. Your confirmed meeting point is sent following the final weather assessment to ensure the safest possible departure location.
Famous for its vineyards, olive groves, rolling hills and historic villages, Chianti is one of Tuscany's best-known regions. Viewing these landscapes from a hot air balloon offers a completely different perspective that changes with every flight.
No previous ballooning experience is required, making this activity suitable for first-time flyers as well as those returning for another adventure. Children are normally welcome from 4 years old when accompanied by an adult.
Comfortable outdoor clothing and flat, closed-toe footwear are recommended. Requests for younger children can be considered individually depending on height, safety requirements and the expected weather conditions.
Flights are operated by an ENAC-certified hot air balloon operator with more than 30 years of experience, delivering safe, reliable and professionally operated balloon flights throughout Tuscany. Experienced commercial pilots and dedicated ground crews ensure every stage of your experience is carefully managed.
Weather conditions are assessed before every departure to select the safest launch site and make the most of the surrounding scenery. From your safety briefing through to your return transfer after landing, everything is organised so you can simply relax and enjoy the flight.
Allow approximately three hours for the full experience, including check-in, the safety briefing, balloon preparation, the flight, breakfast and the return transfer.
