Take the helm of a quiet electric boat on the Motława River and see Gdańsk from the water with no licence and no previous boating experience needed. This activity is a private rental for your group, with a safety briefing and a digital map that guides you past the city's most photogenic waterfront.
When you arrive at the marina pontoon, we'll welcome you and run through a short safety briefing on steering the electric boat and staying within the route area. You'll board your craft with your group and set off at your own pace, following the interactive digital map on your phone as you glide through Gdańsk's historic waterways.
Along the way you'll pass waterfront architecture, museum ships moored along Ołowianka Island, and open views towards the former shipyard cranes that shaped the city's skyline. You can pause for photos whenever you like, circle back to favourite spots, and return to the marina within your session time. Electric propulsion keeps the trip calm and quiet, so conversation and sightseeing come easily throughout.
Gdańsk's Motława River links the Old Town, granary quays, and former shipyard districts into one compact cruising ground. From our marina in central Gdańsk, you're minutes from the medieval crane and the brick warehouses of Granary Island. The water gives you an open, unhurried angle on a city shaped by centuries of trade and shipbuilding.
Marina Gdańsk sits on the edge of the historic centre, so you can combine your time on the river with a walk through cobbled streets before or after your session. Electric boats keep noise low on the water, which suits relaxed sightseeing and easy conversation with your group on board.
No boating licence or prior experience on the water is required. Our briefing covers everything you need before you leave the pontoon, including how to steer gently in the marina and on the open river sections.
At least one person in your group must be 18 or older to take responsibility for the boat during the session. Younger guests are welcome when accompanied by an adult. We ask everyone to follow the route guidance and respect other river users while you explore.
Electric boats are easy to handle and well suited to calm city river cruising. You'll have freedom to explore with your own group, supported by a clear briefing and a digital sight guide rather than a fixed tour script.
It's a practical way to see Gdańsk's waterfront in an hour without joining a crowded walking route. You'll get the city's classic river angles on your own terms, with room to slow down, take photos, and enjoy the Motława at your pace.
Please arrive at Marina Gdańsk on Szafarnia Street about 10 to 15 minutes before your booked departure. The crew will check you in beside the electric boats on the main pontoon, opposite the Old Town waterfront and close to Brovarnia Gdańsk.
Look across the water at Gdańsk's most famous harbour crane, built in the 15th century. This Brick Gothic structure was once the largest port crane in medieval Europe and doubled as a fortified gate. From the river you get the classic photo angle of its timber hoist over the Motława.
Cruise past the brick granaries that once stored the city's grain trade. Today the island mixes restored historic facades with modern waterfront dining. The view across to the Old Town promenade is one of the best wide-angle scenes on the route.
Pass the SS Sołdek, the first ocean-going ship built in Poland after the Second World War. The preserved freighter is moored as a floating museum along Ołowianka Island. From water level you see the full length of its historic hull and decks.
Navigate around Ołowianka Island and pass the red-brick concert hall housed in a former 19th-century power station. The riverside plaza and industrial architecture frame one of the most distinctive buildings on the waterfront.
See the striking modern museum tower dedicated to the history of the Second World War, leaning over the canal where the Motława meets the Radunia. It is a dramatic landmark on the northern bend of the route.
Reach the open junction where the Motława meets the Martwa Wisła at Polski Hak, a historic timber port entry point. The wider water here gives a panoramic sense of how river and shipyard districts connect.
Cruise close to the Imperial Shipyard area with its green cranes, brick workshops, and slipways. This is the birthplace of the Solidarity movement and a powerful slice of industrial heritage best appreciated from the water.
