A comprehensive First Aid at Work course covering a wide range of workplace emergencies, designed to ensure full HSE compliance. Delivered over three days, it provides practical training to confidently manage serious injuries and medical conditions in various work environments.
Over the course of three days, participants will engage in detailed training following HSE guidelines, expanding on Emergency First Aid at Work topics with additional coverage of serious injuries and illnesses. Practical sessions include treatment of fractures, spinal injuries, burns, eye trauma, chest injuries, and managing conditions like stroke, heart attack, and severe allergic reactions. Training is a blend of instructor-led teaching, hands-on practice, and realistic scenarios designed to build competence and confidence.
High-quality training aids, such as Bluetooth-enabled manikins providing real-time CPR feedback, are used alongside bandaging and casualty handling exercises. Emphasis is placed on assessing emergencies accurately, delivering appropriate care safely, and communicating effectively during incidents. Upon successful completion, candidates receive a recognised PDF certificate and comprehensive course materials for ongoing reference.
Courses can be delivered at your workplace or arranged at a local venue suited to your group’s requirements, with travel fees applied depending on distance. This flexible approach accommodates businesses across sectors such as construction, manufacturing, hospitality, and office settings throughout the UK.
Training venues must meet safety and accessibility standards and provide sufficient space for practical activities. Any costs related to venue hire or travel are communicated prior to booking, ensuring clear expectations and smooth organisation.
No prior first aid experience is required. The course welcomes beginners as well as those renewing expired certification. Comfortable clothing is recommended due to the practical elements, including CPR practice on the floor and casualty handling. All necessary materials and equipment are provided.
Led by an instructor with over 20 years of NHS paramedic experience and academic teaching credentials, training is practical, clear, and relevant to real workplace emergencies. Instruction is tailored to the needs of each group to maximise engagement and skill retention.
Advanced training technology such as Bluetooth-enabled manikins offers immediate feedback on CPR technique, helping participants develop precise and effective skills. All courses strictly follow HSE and Resuscitation Council UK standards, delivering compliant and high-quality first aid training designed to prepare teams confidently for emergency situations.
The full FAW course offers more extensive training over three days, covering serious injuries such as fractures, spinal and chest injuries, burns, eye trauma, and managing major illnesses like heart attacks and strokes. In contrast, the shorter EFAW course focuses on basic emergency response skills in a single day.
FAW suits workplaces with higher risks or where comprehensive first aid skills are necessary. EFAW fits environments requiring fundamental first aid knowledge, often in lower-risk settings.
Yes, the FAW Requalification course is a two-day programme designed to refresh skills for those whose certification is near expiry or recently expired. It covers all essential topics to maintain compliance without repeating the full three-day course.
The Annual Refresher lasts three hours and is aimed at keeping skills sharp between requalification periods. Both options include recognised certificates and can be arranged independently or alongside initial training based on your team’s requirements.
The FAW course covers comprehensive first aid topics including CPR, AED use, managing choking, wounds, bleeding, shock, fractures, spinal injuries, chest injuries, burns, and eye injuries. It also addresses sudden poisoning and anaphylactic shock.
Additionally, the course teaches recognition and appropriate first aid response for major illnesses such as heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, and diabetes. The content follows HSE standards to prepare first-aiders for a wide range of workplace emergencies.
This course runs for 18 hours spread over three days, allowing for in-depth learning and practice. Each day combines theory, practical skills training, and scenario-based exercises to build competence progressively.
The schedule includes regular breaks and opportunities for questions and review. Practical sessions use advanced equipment, enabling participants to develop confidence and proficiency in realistic emergency response.
No previous experience is necessary. The FAW course is suitable for beginners as well as those needing a thorough certification for higher-risk workplaces. Instruction is clear and paced to accommodate all learning levels.
Hands-on practice and support are provided throughout, ensuring every participant can safely perform required skills by the end of the course.
Successful candidates receive a PDF certificate recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), valid for three years. The certificate confirms competence in all areas required for workplace first aiders.
Employers widely accept this qualification as evidence of compliance with legal first aid training obligations. Refresher or requalification courses are recommended to maintain certification after three years.
The course can take place at your workplace or a suitable local venue with adequate space for practical activities. The training team works with you to arrange convenient locations, considering travel and venue hire costs.
Venues must meet health and safety requirements, ensuring a safe environment for learning and practical exercises.
