A tandem flight is the simplest way to experience paragliding, with a professional pilot taking care of everything from take-off to landing. Two flight options are available, a shorter valley experience and an extended version that gives more time in the air to enjoy the mountain environment.
Your experience begins with a short journey from the meeting point up to the take-off area, giving you time to take in views across the Benasque Valley. Once at the launch site, the pilot prepares the equipment, fits your harness and explains a few simple steps so you feel ready for take-off.
Take-off is smooth and controlled, usually just a few steps forward before the wing lifts and you are in the air. Once airborne, the flight follows the ridge line above the Arasán area, offering steady soaring conditions and wide views across the valley and surrounding mountains. The shorter option focuses on a compact flight experience, while the extended version allows more time in the air, with smoother gliding and longer sections of ridge soaring when conditions allow.
Approach and landing are calm and guided, with the pilot managing the descent and giving clear instructions before touching down. After the flight, photos and videos can be shown back at base so you can relive the experience and keep a record of your flight if you wish.
Flights take place in the Castejón de Sos area, set within the Benasque Valley in the Pyrenees. The region is known for its wide open landscapes, consistent flying conditions and long history in mountain paragliding.
Take-off points sit above the valley, giving a natural height advantage that allows smooth ridge soaring along the surrounding slopes. The area offers clear visibility across the mountains, with stable conditions that make it suitable for both first-time flyers and those choosing a longer airtime experience.
No previous flying experience is needed, making this suitable for complete beginners. A basic level of mobility is required, as take-off involves a short walk and a few steps into the air.
Comfortable outdoor clothing and suitable footwear are recommended to make the experience more enjoyable. Everything related to flying is handled by the pilot, so no technical knowledge is required.
Flying in this part of the Pyrenees brings together experienced pilots and a location with strong natural conditions for tandem paragliding. Each flight is guided by certified professionals who regularly fly in the same area, ensuring familiarity with local conditions and safe decision-making.
The focus is on providing a smooth and well-managed experience from start to finish. From preparation on the ground to landing in the valley, each stage is handled with clear communication and attention to safety, allowing you to simply enjoy the time in the air.
No experience is required, as everything is handled by the pilot. The flight is designed for complete beginners and first-time flyers.
Simple instructions are given before take-off, making it easy to follow along and enjoy the experience without any technical knowledge.
Take-off usually involves a few light steps or a short run down a gentle slope. Once the wing fills with air, it lifts you smoothly into flight.
The pilot manages all controls, so you simply follow instructions and continue walking until you are airborne.
The valley flight is shorter and focuses on a quick introduction to flying with steady views and a compact experience. It is ideal for a first taste of paragliding.
The extended version allows more time in the air, with longer sections of ridge soaring and a more relaxed pace throughout the flight.
Flights are carried out by certified and experienced pilots who regularly fly in the area. Safety procedures are followed throughout every stage of the experience.
Conditions are checked before each flight, and flights only take place when they are suitable for tandem flying.
Comfortable outdoor clothing is recommended, including long trousers, a wind jacket and layers depending on the season. Closed shoes such as trainers or hiking boots are best.
Avoid loose items that could come off during flight, and dress for mountain weather, which can change quickly.
Small cameras or phones can sometimes be taken if securely attached, but it depends on conditions and pilot advice on the day.
A photo and video service is also available so you can focus fully on the flight without handling equipment.
Flights depend entirely on weather conditions, especially wind direction and strength. If conditions are not suitable, the flight will be rescheduled.
Safety is always the priority, and decisions are made by experienced pilots based on real-time conditions.
Flights operate above the Castejón de Sos area in the Benasque Valley. Take-off points are located on the mountainside above the valley floor.
The location provides stable ridge lift and wide open views, making it ideal for tandem flying.
Including transport, preparation and flight time, the full experience typically takes around one to two hours depending on conditions.
The actual time in the air depends on the chosen option, with flights ranging from short introductions to longer extended experiences.
Many people who feel nervous about heights still enjoy tandem paragliding, as take-off is gradual and controlled rather than sudden.
Once in the air, the sensation is usually more about smooth movement than height itself, and the pilot ensures a calm and steady experience throughout.
