Taking your first steps into wingfoiling can feel like learning several sports at once, which is why this structured course breaks the process down into manageable stages. Starting with the fundamentals and gradually introducing hydrofoil riding, it provides a clear pathway from complete beginner to confident wingfoil rider.
Unlike many wingfoil lessons that place students on a hydrofoil too early, this course follows a progressive structure designed to build confidence at every stage. Training begins on land where you'll learn how to handle the wing, generate power efficiently and understand the key safety systems. Once comfortable with the wing, you'll move onto a large board fitted with traditional fins rather than a foil, allowing you to focus purely on steering, balance and wing control.
As your confidence develops, the course moves onto more advanced stages including water entry and exit techniques, wing recovery procedures and riding under power. Using a larger board first allows students to establish the correct movements without the added challenge of managing a hydrofoil beneath the water. This approach often leads to faster progression and a more enjoyable learning experience.
One of the standout features of this programme is the inclusion of eFoil training. Using an electrically powered hydrofoil board allows you to experience the sensation of flying above the water without needing to simultaneously control a wing. Once you understand how the foil behaves beneath your feet, you'll transition onto wingfoil equipment and begin combining the skills you've learned. Whether you choose the three-hour introduction or the more comprehensive six-hour option, you'll leave with a strong understanding of wingfoiling fundamentals and a clear route towards becoming an independent rider.
Pollensa Bay offers a combination of open space, reliable wind conditions and sheltered learning areas that make it particularly well suited to wingfoil instruction. The bay provides plenty of room for beginners to develop their skills while remaining in a controlled and supportive environment.
Away from the water, students benefit from premium facilities including hot showers, changing rooms, exclusive student areas, a swimming pool and a sea-facing bar and restaurant. The surrounding coastline, beaches and local cafés also make the area an enjoyable place to spend time between sessions.
No previous wingfoil experience is required. This course has been designed specifically for beginners, including those who have never used a wing or ridden a hydrofoil before.
Participants should bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a towel and drinks. Basic swimming ability is recommended, and a willingness to learn new techniques will help you get the most from the course.
Learning wingfoiling successfully depends on following the right progression. Rather than rushing students straight onto hydrofoil equipment, this course builds skills step by step, helping participants gain confidence before introducing more advanced elements.
Experienced instructors use a combination of wing training, board skills and eFoil sessions to accelerate learning while keeping the experience approachable. Combined with premium facilities, modern equipment and an authorised teaching area, students receive a structured introduction to one of the fastest-growing watersports in the world.
Absolutely. The course has been designed specifically for complete beginners and assumes no prior experience with wingfoiling, hydrofoils or similar watersports.
Training begins with the most basic elements of wing control before gradually introducing more advanced skills. This structured approach helps students develop confidence naturally rather than feeling overwhelmed by too much information at once.
Learning to control a wing and learning to ride a hydrofoil are two separate skills, each with their own learning curve. Attempting both at the same time can slow progression for many beginners.
By starting on a larger board without a foil, students can focus entirely on wing handling and board control first. Once those foundations are in place, moving onto a hydrofoil becomes far more manageable and enjoyable.
An eFoil is an electrically powered hydrofoil board that allows riders to experience flying above the water without needing wind power or a wing.
This makes it one of the most effective tools available for understanding foil balance and control. Many students find that spending time on an eFoil helps them progress faster when they later transition to wingfoil equipment.
The six-hour option provides significantly more practice time and allows students to progress through the learning stages more thoroughly than shorter sessions.
While everyone's progress is different, many participants develop a strong understanding of wing control, board handling and the fundamentals of hydrofoil riding within that timeframe.
The three-hour option provides an introduction to the sport and covers the key foundations needed to understand wingfoiling.
Choosing the six-hour programme allows for more repetition, more time on the water and a greater opportunity to refine techniques. For students looking to make meaningful progress during their stay, the longer option often provides the greatest benefit.
Wingfoiling requires balance, coordination and moderate physical effort, but it is not a sport that relies heavily on strength.
Most beginners are surprised by how technique-focused the learning process is. Good instruction and suitable equipment are generally far more important than physical power.
