Ready to experience a completely different style of kitesurfing? This hydrofoil lesson introduces riders to one of the fastest-growing disciplines in the sport, where the board lifts above the water to create an incredibly smooth and efficient ride. Designed for experienced kitesurfers, the session provides expert guidance and specialist equipment to help you take your first steps into hydrofoiling.
Your lesson begins with an introduction to hydrofoil equipment and the key differences between riding a hydrofoil and a traditional twin-tip board. Your instructor will explain how the foil generates lift, how body position influences performance and the techniques used to maintain control during take-off and flight. Beginner-friendly hydrofoil equipment is selected specifically to make the learning process as smooth as possible.
Once on the water, you'll start developing the fundamental movements required for hydrofoiling. Early exercises focus on balance, board positioning and learning how to control the foil's lift. Unlike twin-tip riding, hydrofoiling requires a more precise approach, and your instructor will guide you through the process step by step to help you build confidence safely.
As the session progresses, you'll begin experiencing the unique sensation of lifting above the water and gliding with minimal resistance. Real-time coaching and radio communication help you make quick adjustments while riding, accelerating your learning and helping you understand how to manage the foil effectively. Many riders are surprised by how different hydrofoiling feels and how quickly it opens up new possibilities within the sport.
Pollensa Bay is widely regarded as one of the most suitable locations in Mallorca for hydrofoil progression. The bay's generally smooth water conditions and reliable winds create an environment where riders can focus on developing new skills without unnecessary distractions.
Training is supported by excellent waterfront facilities including hot showers, changing rooms, exclusive student areas, a swimming pool and a sea-facing bar and restaurant. Combined with the area's natural coastal setting, it provides an excellent base for watersports training and progression.
This lesson is not suitable for complete beginners. Participants must already be comfortable and confident riding a twin-tip kitesurf board before attempting hydrofoil training.
Students should bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a towel and drinks. A willingness to learn a different riding style and accept that hydrofoiling involves a learning curve will help maximise your progress during the session.
Hydrofoiling requires specialised coaching and carefully selected equipment, particularly during the early stages of learning. Lessons are delivered using equipment designed specifically for beginner hydrofoil riders, helping make progression safer and more approachable.
Qualified instructors provide personalised coaching tailored to your experience level and goals. Combined with private instruction, radio communication and premium facilities, students receive focused support throughout their introduction to hydrofoiling.
Yes. This lesson is intended for riders who have already mastered riding a twin-tip board and are comfortable controlling a kite independently.
Hydrofoiling introduces new challenges that build upon existing kitesurfing skills, making prior experience essential.
A hydrofoil board uses an underwater wing structure that generates lift as you gain speed, raising the board above the water's surface.
This reduces drag significantly and creates the feeling of gliding smoothly above the water rather than riding directly on it.
Hydrofoiling has a learning curve, but with proper instruction and suitable equipment most riders can begin understanding the fundamentals surprisingly quickly.
Patience and consistent practice are important, as the balance and control techniques differ from traditional kitesurfing.
The bay often provides relatively smooth water conditions and reliable winds that support hydrofoil progression.
These conditions allow riders to focus on learning the new techniques required without constantly dealing with challenging water states.

Using beginner-friendly gear helps improve stability and control during the learning process.
Sessions are available on demand and are commonly booked as one or two-hour lessons depending on your goals and experience.
Your instructor can help recommend the most suitable duration based on your current riding ability.
