Whether you need it for your PADI Rescue Diver course or simply want to feel more confident in an emergency, the Emergency First Response (EFR) course teaches you how to provide care in both life-threatening and non-life-threatening situations. Training is hands-on, easy to follow, and takes place in a calm, supportive environment. It meets all CPR and first aid requirements for the Rescue Diver course and all professional PADI levels.
The EFR course is split into modules that can be completed in one day or spread out depending on your schedule. Primary Care (CPR) focuses on how to help in life-threatening emergencies. You’ll learn to respond to unconscious patients, provide CPR, and manage potential spinal injuries or severe bleeding.
Secondary Care (First Aid) covers how to respond when emergency services are delayed or unavailable. You’ll be shown how to evaluate injuries, perform basic wound care, splint limbs, and reduce the risk of further harm. Optional modules—such as Care for Children, CPR & AED, and First Aid at Work—are available depending on your interest or workplace needs.
Training is held near Cala Barca urbanisation in Sa Barca Trencada, Mallorca. Sessions are delivered in a classroom-style environment equipped with all necessary first aid materials, CPR manikins, and AED training units.
With calm surroundings and experienced instructors, it’s an ideal setting for learning potentially life-saving skills in a way that feels comfortable and supportive.
The course is open to anyone aged 10 or older. No diving certification or medical background is required.
It is especially recommended for divers planning to complete their PADI Rescue Diver training, but it’s also valuable for anyone who wants to learn basic first aid for everyday life, work, or travel.
The course is taught by experienced, certified Emergency First Response instructors who make complex skills easy to understand and practise. You’ll learn through demonstrations, guided practice, and realistic scenarios designed to help you act confidently in an emergency.
EFR training provides essential skills that apply in both diving and everyday situations. Whether you’re preparing for Rescue Diver or want to feel more ready to help others, this course gives you clear, practical knowledge that stays with you long after the session ends.
The EFR course is a practical first aid and CPR programme that teaches you how to assist in both life-threatening and minor medical emergencies. It’s focused on real-world skills like chest compressions, wound care, and helping unresponsive patients—without overwhelming medical jargon.
It’s recognised worldwide and is a required prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver course. It’s also useful for anyone looking to gain confidence in emergency situations, whether you’re diving, travelling, or looking after family.
Anyone aged 10 and over can enrol—no prior experience is needed, and you don’t need to be a diver to take part. The course is accessible and designed for all learning levels, with step-by-step guidance and hands-on practice.
It’s especially popular among divers preparing for the PADI Rescue Diver course, but it’s also well-suited to teachers, parents, group leaders, or anyone who may need to respond in an emergency situation.
The course is divided into modules, starting with Primary Care (CPR) for life-threatening situations, followed by Secondary Care (First Aid) for injuries and illnesses that aren’t immediately dangerous.
You’ll learn how to manage serious emergencies like unresponsiveness, spinal injuries, or major bleeding, and also how to treat cuts, sprains, burns, and fractures. You’ll also practise scene assessments and how to monitor a patient’s condition until help arrives.
Not at all. While it’s a required step for the PADI Rescue Diver course, the EFR programme is open to anyone who wants to learn first aid and CPR. It’s a great way to gain life-saving skills that can be used in everyday life—not just underwater.
People working with children, elderly relatives, or in group environments often take the course to prepare for emergencies outside of diving, and many employers accept EFR as a recognised workplace first aid qualification.
There is no formal exam for the EFR course. Instead, you’ll be guided through practical scenarios to demonstrate your understanding and ability to perform the skills taught.
The goal is to build confidence through repetition and support, not to test under pressure. Your instructor will work with you until you're comfortable with each technique and ready to handle real-world situations.
