This introduction is a scuba diving experience designed specifically for children aged 8 and above to safely take their first breaths underwater using scuba gear. It offers a fun and supportive environment for youngsters to get comfortable with diving basics under professional supervision.
The session starts with a briefing where children meet their PADI instructor and learn about the scuba equipment they will use. This includes the mask, snorkel, regulator, and buoyancy control device, explained in simple terms suitable for young learners. Safety procedures and underwater signals are introduced to ensure clear communication throughout the experience.
Next, participants enter shallow water, not exceeding 2 metres depth, where they get hands-on experience breathing through the scuba regulator. The instructor stays close to offer constant supervision and support. Children practice basic skills such as clearing their mask, regulator recovery, and controlled swimming while getting used to moving underwater.
This experience is designed to be enjoyable and confidence-building, laying the foundation for future PADI courses if children choose to continue diving. It is also a great activity for birthday parties or group events, allowing kids to share a memorable underwater experience with friends and family.
The meeting point is in Cala Barca urbanisation, Sa Barca Trencada on Mallorca’s southeast coast. This location is ideal for beginners due to its calm, sheltered waters that provide a safe and controlled environment for young divers.
Mallorca is part of the Balearic Islands in the western Mediterranean, known for varied marine life and excellent diving conditions. The island’s mild climate and clear waters create a perfect setting for introducing children to scuba diving.
Participants must be at least 8 years old and comfortable in the water, though no prior diving experience is necessary. Basic swimming ability or water confidence is recommended to make the most of the session.
Parental or legal guardian written consent is mandatory to ensure all safety and legal requirements are met before starting the activity.
The experience is delivered by certified PADI professionals committed to safe, supportive teaching methods tailored for children. Small groups ensure each child receives personalised attention, allowing them to build confidence in a friendly environment.
The setting and structure focus on fun while introducing important diving skills and safety practices. This makes it an ideal introduction to scuba diving, whether for personal interest or as a stepping stone to PADI’s junior certification courses.
