Snowmobiling under Lapland’s night sky blends high-adrenaline riding with the unique possibility of seeing the Aurora. This small-group evening experience uses private trails, expert guides and brand-new 2025 luxury 4×4 vans for transfers, finishing with a warm barbecue beside a fire. Guests benefit from close guidance, quality kit and a calm wilderness setting away from crowded routes.
Your evening starts with pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi in one of our new 2025 luxury 4×4 vans. The transfer gives a short introduction to the area as you move away from town and into quieter forest and tundra landscapes. At the base you’ll be fitted with helmets, thermal overalls and receive a full safety briefing before getting on the machines.
You’ll ride brand-new 2025 snowmobiles across a mix of wooded tracks and wide tundra stretches. Two guests share each snowmobile and will switch drivers approximately halfway through so everyone has a turn driving. Frequent, controlled stops provide time for photos and to take in the night sky; guides choose stopping spots for safety and the best views.
After roughly two hours on the trail, you’ll finish at a sheltered clearing where a campfire and barbecue await. While warming with hot drinks and food, the guide will share local stories and practical tips for night photography. Transfers then return you to your accommodation, typically completing the experience within five to six hours.
The tour runs on private forest and tundra lands chosen for their low light pollution and varied terrain, ideal for evening snowmobiling and Aurora visibility. These areas are maintained for safety and routed to combine flowing stretches for riding with sheltered sections for stops and the barbecue. Being on private lands means a quieter experience with fewer other groups on the trails.
Rovaniemi serves as the practical base for pickups and drop-offs, providing easy access from most local accommodation. The transfer route passes frozen lakes, small hamlets and classic Lapland woodlands, so guests get an immediate sense of the region before reaching the remote snowmobile base. All transport is handled in-house using the 2025 luxury 4×4 fleet, capable in extreme winter conditions.
Drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid Class B driving licence (a photo or digital copy is acceptable). Participants should be comfortable spending a few hours outdoors in cold conditions and able to follow clear safety instructions; basic mobility and coordination are needed to mount, steer and dismount the snowmobile safely. Children under 6 cannot join; passengers aged 15+ and at least 140 cm tall may ride as passengers while younger children ride in a sled pulled by the guide.
Guests should bring warm, waterproof footwear and layered clothing under the provided thermal overall, as boots and hats are not supplied. Any medical conditions likely to affect participation (for example heart or severe back issues) should be declared before booking so the team can advise on suitability and any reasonable adjustments.
Rooted in a long local heritage, the operation combines deep knowledge of Arctic conditions with modern safety standards and in-house service delivery. Tours are led by certified guides trained in first aid and local weather patterns, supported by a new fleet of snowmobiles and 2025 luxury 4×4 vans that ensure reliable, comfortable transfers and equipment performance even in severe cold. The private-land approach and small group sizes prioritise a personal, high-quality experience rather than mass tourism.
Recognition by global travel platforms reflects consistent guest satisfaction and a focus on quality: the operator maintains tight control over every step of the experience, from kit maintenance and safety briefings to post-tour photo delivery. Sustainability and respect for the Arctic environment guide route selection and operations, with efforts to minimise impact while giving guests an authentic evening in the wilderness.
Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi. One of our guides will collect you in a brand-new 2025 luxury 4×4 van, designed for comfort and safety in Arctic conditions. Each vehicle features heated seats, extra legroom, and all-wheel drive — perfect for the snowy roads of Lapland.
Pickup times are carefully scheduled so your journey runs smoothly and without rush. You’ll have time to relax and take in the winter scenery as you leave the city behind, passing frozen lakes, forest landscapes, and small Arctic villages on the way to the starting point. At the end of the experience, you’ll be dropped off back at your accommodation.
To keep warm and comfortable in Arctic conditions, layered clothing is key. You’ll be provided with a winter overall for the duration of the tour, offering excellent insulation against the cold. However, please note that boots and hats are not supplied. It’s strongly advised to wear thermal underlayers and bring your own hat, gloves, and scarf to protect against wind chill. Wool or moisture-wicking materials work best, helping you stay dry and cosy throughout the experience.
Even with high-quality outerwear, proper footwear makes a big difference, especially when walking on snow or ice. Warm, waterproof boots with thick soles are ideal. For those planning to take photos or use devices outdoors, consider touchscreen gloves so you don’t need to remove them in freezing temperatures. Dressing appropriately ensures you can focus on enjoying the Arctic landscape rather than worrying about the cold.
Yes, car seats are available for children of all ages, provided you share your child’s age and weight in advance. This allows the team to prepare the correct seat before pickup. By law, all children under 135 cm must use an approved child seat in Finland, Sweden, and Norway, ensuring their comfort and safety during the journey.
For legal and safety reasons, children cannot sit on an adult’s lap during transport. Every passenger, including infants, must have their own designated seat. These measures meet the highest safety standards and guarantee peace of mind for families travelling in Arctic conditions.
Absolutely, solo travellers are welcome on all experiences. Many guests choose to travel independently and enjoy meeting like-minded people during the tour. It’s a great way to experience the Arctic safely and still have the freedom of individual travel.
However, please note that some tours require a minimum number of participants to operate. If the group size isn’t met, alternative arrangements or new dates may be offered. For details specific to your chosen activity, you can reach out to the team directly before booking.
While travel insurance isn’t mandatory, it’s strongly recommended. Policies that cover trip delays, cancellations, medical expenses, or lost belongings can provide valuable peace of mind, especially when travelling in winter conditions where weather can be unpredictable. It’s always best to review your coverage before the trip to ensure it suits your travel plans.
Punctuality is essential for smooth operations, as departure times are tightly scheduled. If you’re running late, contact the team as soon as possible so they can advise on options. In some cases, it may be possible to catch up or reschedule depending on availability. However, if the group must depart and you miss the pickup, it will be treated as a no-show, and refunds may not be available.
