Viewing Costa Rica from above transforms the experience, combining mountain ranges, river systems and coastal scenery into a single private flight. This tour is designed for those wanting a quieter, more exclusive way to take in large areas of the country in a short amount of time.
Pickup from your hotel in San Jose is followed by a short transfer to the local airfield where your helicopter and pilot are ready for departure. Before take-off, a safety briefing is provided along with headsets that allow communication with the pilot throughout the flight. Once airborne, the route heads over the Tilarán Mountain Range, offering wide views across rainforest, rivers and farmland below.
As the flight continues towards the Pacific coast, you’ll pass over the Tárcoles River, an area known for its large crocodile population visible from above, especially near the river mouth and bridge crossings. The coastline then comes into view, with beaches and ocean stretching beyond the forested landscape. Throughout the journey, the pilot provides commentary on key landmarks before returning to San Jose.
The flight route covers Costa Rica’s Central Pacific region, beginning in the Central Valley and extending across mountainous terrain towards the coast. This area includes rainforest zones, agricultural land and major river systems that shape the landscape.
Tárcoles River and the surrounding rainforest form a key part of the route, connecting inland ecosystems with the Pacific Ocean. The coastline offers a clear contrast to the dense forest, with open beaches and coastal features visible from the air.
No previous flight experience is required to take part in this tour. A short safety briefing is provided before boarding, and all passengers are guided through the process.
