Take to the skies on a microlight for an aerial view of Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, and surrounding parkland. This 15 or 30-minute flight gives an extraordinary perspective without taking up your whole day. It’s accessible, engaging, and a memorable addition to any visit to the falls.
The day starts with hotel pickup and a short drive to the microlight airfield, where a professional instructor conducts a safety briefing and explains the route. You’ll be fitted with a helmet and harness and step into the two-seater microlight.
Once airborne, you’ll soar over Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, and nearby islands. The instructor pilots the microlight while you take in the scenery, snap photos, and spot features such as Devil’s Pool, Batoka Gorge, and the river’s channels. The 30-minute flight option allows more time over Batoka Gorge and the surrounding parkland, including potential wildlife sightings.
After landing, there’s time to review photos and enjoy the view from the airfield. Transfers return you to your hotel. The experience combines accessible aerial views with the sense of being up close to one of the world’s natural wonders.
Flights depart from a microlight airfield just outside Livingstone, approximately 10–15 minutes from most city hotels. The site is positioned to provide uninterrupted views of Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, and the surrounding Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
From the air, passengers can see the full sweep of the river, islands, and rapids leading into the falls. The surrounding landscape includes savannah plains, forested areas, and wildlife in the park, making it a visually diverse flight. The airfield provides safe, clear runways and easy access for hotel transfers.
Participants should be comfortable in a lightweight aircraft and able to remain seated in the microlight harness for the duration of the flight. Children under 12 may require prior approval.
Wear comfortable clothing and closed shoes suitable for outdoor activity. Sunglasses, sun protection, and a small camera in a secure case are recommended. Personal items can be stored in dry bags provided by the team.
Our instructors are experienced pilots familiar with Victoria Falls and the surrounding airspace, ensuring each flight is safe, well-managed, and enjoyable. They provide clear guidance throughout the safety briefing, take-off, flight, and landing, creating a confident and secure experience for all passengers.
The flights are carefully planned to balance sightseeing with comfort. Each microlight is maintained to the highest standard, and pilots can adjust the flight path based on conditions to maximise views and photographic opportunities. The small group size allows personalised attention and flexible scheduling, so every passenger gets the most from their flight. Additionally, combining this flight with other Livingstone activities is seamless, making it easy to fit into a full-day itinerary.
Flights are available in 15 or 30-minute durations. The 15-minute option focuses on Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, and Batoka Gorge close to the falls. The 30-minute flight covers more of the Batoka Gorge, the river upstream, and the surrounding parkland, giving time to spot wildlife and appreciate the full scale of the landscape.
Transfers to and from your hotel are scheduled separately. The pre-flight briefing and post-flight photos add some extra time to your overall experience.
Children over 12 are welcome, and all passengers are secured with safety harnesses and helmets. Younger children may require prior approval, which should be discussed at booking.
During the flight, the instructor ensures passengers are comfortable and secure. The microlight’s stable flight path makes it accessible for first-time flyers.
Wear comfortable clothing, closed shoes, sunglasses, and sun protection. Light jackets may be useful on cooler mornings.
Bring a camera or phone in a waterproof or secure case. Loose items should be left behind or stored in provided dry bags. Professional photos are often available after the flight.
Yes. The microlight’s slow, controlled flight allows for photography. The instructor can manoeuvre for optimal views while keeping the aircraft stable.
Professional images are also offered after the flight, reducing the need to manage devices mid-air.
Passengers should arrive 15–20 minutes before the scheduled flight to allow for registration, safety checks, and briefing.
Punctual arrival ensures the flight departs on time and runs smoothly without cutting into the experience.
No experience is needed. The pilot handles all controls while passengers focus on the scenery and enjoying the flight.
The microlight is suitable for beginners and those who have never flown in light aircraft.
