Respond confidently to medical emergencies with this one-day accredited course. Ideal for smaller workplaces or where only basic first aid coverage is required, it meets HSE standards and provides practical, hands-on training for a variety of workplace situations.
Training begins by helping you identify hazards and assess the scene to ensure safety for yourself and others. You will learn how to carry out a primary survey, checking for airway, breathing, and circulation. Hands-on exercises allow you to practice these skills in realistic scenarios.
Practical sessions include CPR training, AED use, and managing choking, cuts, burns, and minor injuries. Each exercise is supervised, giving you immediate feedback and guidance to improve confidence and accuracy.
Towards the end of the day, you will work through short scenario-based exercises to consolidate your skills. You will also discuss incident reporting and legal responsibilities, leaving you ready to handle emergencies at work safely and effectively.
Courses take place at accessible venues across Wiltshire, including Salisbury, Swindon, Trowbridge, and Devizes. Each venue is chosen for ease of access, parking, and practical training space.
On-site delivery can also be arranged for workplace groups. This ensures training is relevant to your environment and allows multiple staff members to gain certification together without travel.
No prior experience in first aid is required. You should be able to kneel and perform CPR on a training manikin. Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are recommended for practical exercises.
All attendees must be at least 14 years old. Those under 16 may attend but can only act under supervision until reaching the legal age for full first aid responsibility.
Accredited training is delivered by an experienced instructor who brings both military and first aid training expertise. Courses are regulated by First Aid Awards Ltd, ensuring full compliance with HSE standards.
Practical, scenario-driven teaching ensures you develop skills and confidence. You leave the course prepared to manage everyday first aid emergencies in a workplace setting, backed by a nationally recognised certificate.
This course is suitable for employees, small business staff, and anyone required to hold a recognised Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. You’ll gain the essential skills to respond confidently to workplace emergencies while remaining compliant with HSE standards.
It is particularly suitable for organisations that require at least one trained first aider on site but do not need the full three-day qualification. By the end of the day, you will understand both the practical and theoretical aspects of emergency first aid.
The course covers CPR, AED usage, choking management, minor injuries, bleeding control, burns, shock, unresponsive casualties, and medical conditions such as epilepsy, asthma, and diabetes. You will also learn legal responsibilities and reporting requirements for workplace incidents.
Scenario-based exercises are integrated throughout to give realistic practice in handling sudden emergencies. You will gain hands-on experience in responding to simulated incidents to build confidence in your first aid ability.
Assessment is ongoing, focusing on practical skills and safety awareness. The instructor observes you performing CPR, choking relief, casualty handling, and injury management, giving feedback to ensure competence.
In addition, informal knowledge checks throughout the day test your understanding of legal obligations, protocols, and first aid procedures. Successful completion leads to an OFQUAL-regulated certification.
Yes, the course can be delivered on-site, with scenarios adapted to your specific work environment. This ensures you practise in a realistic setting and learn how to manage emergencies relevant to your organisation.
On-site delivery also allows scheduling flexibility and minimises disruption, while still covering the full syllabus and providing certification upon completion.
The price is per person. The total may vary depending on the location, group size, and whether any on-site or bespoke arrangements are requested.
Comfortable clothing suitable for kneeling, bending, and practicing CPR is required, along with closed-toe shoes. You may also want to bring a notepad and pen for theoretical notes.
Hydration is important, so bringing water is recommended. Any personal medical information you wish the instructor to be aware of can be shared before or at the start of the course.
