Spending time on the water off Tamarindo is an easy way to experience the coastline, with a mix of sailing, swimming stops and onboard dining. This shared trip suits solo travellers, families and groups who want a sociable day out on the sea.
Arrival takes place at a designated beach meeting point in Tamarindo where staff greet guests and coordinate boarding. A short transfer by launch boat takes everyone out to the main catamaran, where the crew welcomes you on board and gets the trip underway.
Travelling north along the Guanacaste coastline, the route passes dramatic rock formations, small offshore islands and long stretches of open Pacific water. The journey is calm and steady, with plenty of time on deck to take in the surroundings and watch for marine life such as dolphins, turtles and rays. Depending on the season, whales may also pass through the area.
Anchoring in a protected cove or near a quiet beach provides time for water-based activities. Guests can swim, snorkel, try paddleboarding or kayaking, or simply stay on the boat and relax. Equipment is supplied and crew members remain available to assist throughout the stop.
Heading back towards Tamarindo, the return sail is a relaxed final stretch of the trip. Music plays onboard, drinks are served, and guests often spend the journey enjoying the changing light over the coastline before arriving back at the beach.
Set in Tamarindo on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, the departure point sits within a lively beach town known for surfing, long sandy shoreline and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. Most accommodation in the area is within easy reach of the meeting point.
The sailing route follows the nearby Guanacaste coastline, a region shaped by rocky headlands, sheltered bays and open ocean views. Conditions are typically calm during the day, creating a smooth sailing environment with regular chances of spotting marine wildlife along the way.
No previous sailing or boating experience is needed, as the crew manages all navigation and provides guidance throughout the trip. The experience is designed to be straightforward and accessible for all guests.
Comfort around water is useful for those planning to take part in swimming or snorkelling, although participation is optional. All equipment is provided on board, and support is available during all water activities.
A focus on smaller passenger numbers compared to many larger operators helps create a more relaxed onboard environment. This allows guests more space to move around and enjoy the experience without feeling crowded.
Experienced crew members manage both hospitality and sailing, ensuring the trip runs smoothly from start to finish. Freshly prepared food and a full drinks selection are included, helping to keep the day simple, well organised and enjoyable throughout.
Guests meet at a beachside location in Tamarindo where staff are present to check bookings and guide the boarding process. From there, a small launch boat takes everyone out to the main catamaran anchored offshore.
Once aboard, the crew welcomes guests, provides a drink and gives a short briefing before departure. The process is organised to keep boarding smooth and straightforward for everyone taking part.
The trip is split between sailing along the coastline, a main swimming stop and time for food and drinks on board. The sailing section allows guests to enjoy the scenery while moving steadily along the coast.
A longer stop at anchor provides time for water activities, followed by a relaxed return journey back to Tamarindo where guests can unwind before disembarking.
The waters around the coastline are known for regular sightings of marine life, including dolphins, sea turtles and rays. These are often spotted during the sailing portions of the trip when visibility is good.
At certain times of year, whales can also be seen passing through the area. While sightings cannot be guaranteed, the crew keeps a lookout and shares any wildlife spotted during the journey.
Meals are freshly prepared and served during the trip, typically including chicken fajitas, rice with vegetables, black beans, salad, fruit and banana bread. Food is served after the main water activity stop.
A wide range of drinks is available throughout the day, including soft drinks, juices, beer, wine and spirits. Everything is included onboard so guests can enjoy the experience without needing to bring additional supplies.
At the anchoring point, guests can take part in swimming, snorkelling, kayaking or paddleboarding. All equipment is provided and the crew is available to assist at any stage.
Those who prefer a slower pace can remain on the boat and relax on deck while others enjoy the water. The stop is designed to be flexible so everyone can choose how active they want to be.
No prior experience is required for any of the water activities included in the trip. Equipment is provided and the crew offers guidance to ensure everything is easy to use.
Life jackets are available, and guests can choose activities based on their comfort level. Participation is optional for all water-based options.
