One day on Rincon de la Vieja covers a horse ride, seven ziplines, a short cultural stop, a forest waterslide of about 500 metres, and hot springs with a mud bath. Height and weight limits apply to the zipline and the slide, and those are checked on site.
You are picked up and taken inland. The horse ride is led at a walk through forest, and the guides match the horse to how much riding you have done. After that you do seven ziplines between platforms in the canopy. There is a short stop to hear about local Guanacaste traditions before the waterslide, which runs through the trees for about 500 metres.
The hot springs and mud bath are at the end, so you can sit down after the faster parts of the day. Staff will stop you from the zipline or the slide if you do not meet the height or weight limit. Wear clothes you do not mind getting muddy.
The activities are on and around Rincon de la Vieja, inland from the Guanacaste beaches. Transfers between each part are included, so you are not finding your own way from the horses to the zipline.
Pickup is from hotels in the usual Guanacaste zone, with the time confirmed after you book. Light rain often does not cancel the day, but a single activity can be paused if wind or lightning makes it unsafe.
You do not need to have ridden or zip-lined before. You do need to be on your feet for a long day, in and out of harnesses and on and off a horse. All ages can be booked, but children may have to skip the zipline or the slide if they are under the limit. Horses are led. Tell the guides if you are nervous around them.
Closed shoes with a strap are better than loose sandals. Bring a swimsuit for the springs and a small dry bag if you want your phone between activities. Passport number and full name are needed for the park-linked parts of the day.
The company has been running Guanacaste day trips since 2015, and a family team has owned it since 2023. They have worked in hotels and tours, and they still travel a lot themselves, so the days are set up around practical things: a clear pickup time, a guide who explains what is happening, and a group small enough to slow down when someone needs a break.
Guides are trained in first aid. Vehicles are checked, insured, and approved for public tourism use in Costa Rica, with GPS tracking. Tours can be given in English, French, or Spanish. One team handles the drive, any park paperwork, and the activity, so you are not booking separate transfers and tickets yourself.
Ride guided trails through forest at the base of Rincon de la Vieja with chances to spot birds and monkeys from the saddle. The ride is at a walk, with a guide at the front, and you get off at the same point you started.
Soar on seven canopy lines with harness and helmet, pausing at platforms for safety checks and volcano views. A guide checks your harness on every platform before you leave, and you wait there between lines.
Listen to a short presentation on local traditions and stories that connect the adventure to the region's ranching heritage. It is a seated talk, not another activity, and it sits between the ziplines and the waterslide.
Take the 500-metre waterslide through the trees with provided gear and guide supervision at the launch and catch zones. You go one at a time on the wet chute, with staff at the launch and at the bottom.
Unwind in thermal pools and apply volcanic mud before changing for the transfer back to your hotel. There is time to soak and rinse off before you get back in the van for the coast.
Pickup is from Guanacaste hotels; confirm your hotel and room number after booking.
Arrive at the lobby at the agreed time with wet-activity clothing ready.
Park and activity operators on the volcano require identification for guest registration on this multi-activity day.
Submit passport numbers and legal names after booking when prompted. Keep the passport in your day bag as well, because the same details are checked again when you arrive.
All ages are allowed on the product, but zipline and waterslide have height and weight limits enforced on site.
Ask the operator about current limits for your children's ages before travel. The crew checks height and weight at the zipline and the slide, and they will say on the spot if a child sits that part out.
The nine-hour day sequences horse, ziplines, culture, slide, and springs with transport between bases.
Exact timings flex with group size and queue times at popular features. The horse ride and the ziplines take the most time. The culture stop is a short break between them.
Wear clothes that can get wet for the slide and springs, and secure shoes for hiking between stations.
Bring a swimsuit under your clothes to save time between wet activities. Pack a dry set of clothes in a bag that closes, because the slide and the springs will soak what you have on.
Meals are not highlighted as included unless your Bokun voucher lists them; pack snacks for an active day.
There may be food for purchase near activity bases depending on the season. Eat before you are picked up. The day is long and there is not a set lunch stop on this itinerary.
Seven lines vary in length and height but are operated with standard harness systems and guide belays.
First-timers receive instruction at the practice area before longer runs. You are clipped to the line before you step off, and a guide talks you through the first one.
The 500-metre slide is a guided wet ride through forest chutes rather than a pool slide.
Follow staff commands at launch and wear provided safety equipment. People go one at a time. Staff at the bottom wait until you are clear before the next person starts.
Horses are selected for trail riding with guides leading the group at a walking pace.
Inform staff about riding experience so they can pair you with a suitable mount. You do not need to have ridden before. The horses walk in a line and the guide sets the pace.
Two to fourteen guests can join a departure, larger than some single-activity tours.
Arrive on time at pickup so the long day can start promptly. Fourteen is the maximum, not the number you should expect. Plenty of days run with fewer people.
The from price reflects the operator rate in US dollars for this Bokun product before platform fees shown at checkout.
Final totals depend on date, party size, and age categories in Bokun, and your confirmation voucher lists pickup details for the day you selected. The price on the page is the adult rate. Child prices show on the booking form once you pick a date.

Playas del Coco
From our base in Guanacaste we run guided day trips along Costa Rica's northwest Pacific coast, from rainforest waterfalls and volcano trails to river adventures and sunset sails. Small groups travel with local guides who know the roads, the parks, and the best times to be on the water. We handle the logistics so you can focus on swimming, hiking, rafting, or learning to surf with equipment ready when you arrive.
Whether you are staying near Playa del Coco, Tamarindo, or flying into Liberia, we pick you up and return you after the experience. Families are welcome on many of our tours, and we keep groups personal enough that your guide can answer questions and adapt the pace on the day. Reusable water bottles are encouraged, and we aim to show you the region responsibly while you enjoy some of its most memorable landscapes.
