2025 Event Dates: May 3rd August 9th
Experience the beauty of the Isle of Purbeck and Corfe Castle on this exciting cycling tour. Led by our expert guide, Steve, you will traverse scenic trails, historic sites, and beautiful landscapes, making for an unforgettable adventure. The ride combines gentle beginnings with challenging climbs, offering a diverse and rewarding experience. (E-Mountain Bikes Only)
Your adventure begins with a smooth ride through Rempstone Heath, where the majestic silhouette of Corfe Castle will start to emerge on the horizon. From there, we will tackle the first steep ascent onto Purbeck Hills, where the Grange Arch awaits. This historic arch, built by Denis Bond, offers a stunning vantage point with sweeping views of Dorset.
Following the high chalky ridge, you'll enjoy panoramic views before descending for a lunch break at Corfe Castle. This impressive structure, constructed in the early 12th century, stands tall atop a hill, its grandeur visible from afar. After exploring the castle, we will continue our journey with a challenging climb up Brenscombe Hill, keeping an eye out for the charming steam train from Swanage Railway.
The route will then lead us along a chalk bridleway to Ballard Down, where the iconic Old Harry Rocks will come into view. These ancient chalk formations, once connected to the Isle of Wight, provide a striking end to our ride. The blend of rugged terrain and historical landmarks makes for a truly unique experience.
The tour begins in Studland, located at Ferry Rd, Swanage. This scenic area provides an ideal starting point for exploring the diverse landscapes of Purbeck and the historic charm of Corfe Castle.
