The perfect way to discover Edinburgh- the city built on volcanic hills. See more of Edinburgh in less time with this expertly guided e-bike tour that combines iconic highlights with hidden gems. Designed for those who want to dig beneath the surface of the city, this route includes major landmarks, sweeping views, and lesser-known corners—without the hard pedalling.
Our tour is delivered by experienced local guides who will show you the most iconic spots of the city, and take you off the beaten path- to explore the most picturesque corners and engage with the local culture and history. We will also cycle through the amazing green spaces that edinburgh has to offer to locals and visitors alike.
We begin in the historical port district of Leith, cycling gently up Leith Walk, one of the longest streets in the city. Next we pass the green park London Road Gardens leading to our first stop at the regal Holyrood Palace and the striking architecture of the Scottish Parliament.
From here, the e-bikes make light work of the incline up to Arthur’s Seat. There’s plenty of time to take in the panoramic views before a peaceful descent. We then will cross Waverly Bridge which connects the Old and New Towns, spanning over Waverly Station and offers a stunning view of the Old Town. From here gently cycling through the original Neo-classical and Georgian architecture of the New Town, a UNESCO hertage site since 1995.
Next, we will drift down to one of the most beautiful hidden gems of the city, Dean Village before cycling down The tranquil Water of Leith. Our cycle will end in the picturesque old harbour of Leith, The Shore before we finally drift back to our starting point.
This session is open to anyone aged 16 and who is confident cycling in a group setting and capable of cycling on shared roads and designated cycle paths. Helmets and all necessary equipment are provided.
You do not need previous experience with e-bikes, as the tour starts with a short briefing to help you get used to the controls.
The team behind this experience has spent years perfecting e-bike tours in Edinburgh, offering the most comprehensive coverage of the city on two wheels. We have a strong focus on sustainability, our electric fleet means you can enjoy longer, more varied routes with less effort and zero emissions.
Led by a team with deep local knowledge and a genuine love for sharing Scotland’s capital, every tour is designed to be as educational as it is fun. Whether you're a first-time visitor or returning to Edinburgh, this is one of the most relaxed ways to experience so much of the city.
The tour is designed to be accessible to a wide range of fitness levels since the e-bikes provide electric assistance that reduces the effort needed to pedal. Even if you’re not a regular cyclist, the motor helps you manage hills and longer distances without excessive strain. You can control the level of assistance, so you can adjust it to suit your comfort throughout the ride.
However, it’s important to be reasonably comfortable on a bike and able to cycle for approx three hours with short breaks. The route includes some uphill sections, like the climb to Arthur’s Seat, but these are made much easier thanks to the e-bike support. If you have any concerns about fitness or cycling ability, the guides can provide advice before booking.
Tours run rain or shine, as Edinburgh’s weather can be changeable and the experience goes ahead in most conditions. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather, wearing waterproof or layered clothing as needed. The guides will carry on with the route but will always prioritise safety, adapting the pace or route if necessary.
If extreme weather conditions occur, such as severe storms or icy roads, the tour may be postponed or rescheduled for safety reasons. In that case, the provider will contact you in advance with alternative options or a full refund. It’s advisable to check the weather forecast and come prepared to enjoy the ride whatever the conditions.
