This guided adventure is an excellent way to get a taste of what the South Downs Way has to offer.
Your adventure begins at the Handlebar Café in Winchester, where you'll meet your guide, Steve. After a brief introduction and safety briefing, you’ll set off on a journey through tranquil lanes and bridleways. The ride takes you up onto the South Downs Way, offering panoramic views of Winchester and the surrounding countryside.
As you pedal along, you'll encounter a variety of flowing trails that provide both excitement and challenge. The terrain includes roads and bridleways, with some sections featuring roots and loose stones. Steve will lead the way, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience while sharing insights about the area. The ride concludes back at the Handlebar Café, where you can relax and reflect on your adventure.

Winchester, known for its historic architecture and scenic beauty, sets the perfect backdrop for your adventure on the South Downs Way.
Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and be confident in their mountain biking skills. This ride involves varied terrain, including some technical sections, so a good level of bike handling ability is essential.
Ensure your bike is in excellent working order and equipped with a puncture repair kit, spare inner tube, and a bike pump. Helmets must be within the manufacturer’s warranty period (3 years from the date of manufacture).
Our sessions are led by a Fully Qualified Mountain Bike Leader – Level 2, accredited through British Cycling. We take pride in ensuring the highest safety standards with our DBS-checked and approved guides. Additionally, our team includes a Fully Qualified Outdoor First Aider, and we hold Public Liability Insurance through British Cycling.
This professional approach ensures a safe, enjoyable, and well-organised riding experience, allowing you to focus entirely on enjoying the adventure.
If you have your own bike then please bring it along. If needed, we can arrange for bike hire for you.
We can offer standard mountain bikes or e-bikes, bikes come from Cyclexperience in Brockenhurst.

While we can accept children on our tours it is on the understanding that they must be able to ride confidently on the road.
Although not all of our tours involve road cycling, there may be times when there are sections that need to be travelled on road.
We require all riders to fill in a rider information form ahead of their tour. Within this includes information about any medical conditions you have. Completing these forms is part of ensuring that you are insured on your ride.

All of our tours feature a ‘pit stop’ at a local café or place to eat.
Please bring your own money or card to purchase any drinks or snacks you require.
Depending on the tour you are doing, dogs may be allowed if in a suitable dog trailer.
