Driving your own snowmobile through Lapland forest brings you to Santa's hidden cabin, with glögi and Finnish snacks inside and reindeer waiting back at the safari house before we return you to Rovaniemi.
At the safari house beside Pisavaara Nature Reserve you'll receive warm winter clothing and a snowmobile briefing, including a practice run, before following your guide in a small convoy along forest trails toward Santa's hidden cabin. We'll pick you up from your accommodation in Rovaniemi and bring you to the base first.
Inside the cabin Santa welcomes your group, and you'll enjoy glögi and Finnish snacks with time for photos and conversation. On the return ride you'll stop at the safari house to meet our reindeer before handing back your gear. We'll then drive you back to your accommodation in Rovaniemi. Younger guests who cannot drive ride as passengers while adults take turns on the snowmobiles.
Snowmobile trails run from our Muurola base beside Pisavaara Nature Reserve through quiet woodland north of Rovaniemi. Santa's cabin is set away from the city's busier tourist areas.
City hotels sit within easy reach for included pickup and drop-off. The trails start close to our safari house, so you are out in the forest quickly after the briefing, and the reindeer at the base are a nice way to wind down before the drive back to town.
Licensed drivers aged eighteen and over can take the handlebars; no previous snowmobile experience is required as your guide briefs you and sets the pace. Children from age three can join as passengers.
A short practice run at the base helps if you're new to snowmobiles, giving you a chance to get used to the controls before the longer forest route to the cabin. Thermal base layers under the provided overalls keep you comfortable on the ride.
Self driving a snowmobile adds a hands on side to the Santa visit that many guests remember long after the trip, and we keep groups small so the convoy stays manageable and your guide can help less confident riders.
Reindeer back at the safari house round off the Lapland atmosphere before you head back to the city. Every guide holds an official travel industry safety passport, we know these trails through the winter season, and we adjust the pace so the group stays together without feeling rushed at the cabin.
