Set out for a full-day ride across the Arctic wilderness, following forest trails and open frozen landscapes by snowmobile. This extended outing combines driving time with breaks in remote locations, giving you a steady mix of movement, scenery, and time to warm up around a fire.
The experience starts with pick-up in Rovaniemi and a transfer to the base, where winter gear is provided and safety instructions are given. Once ready, the snowmobiles are set in motion, heading into forest trails and quieter backcountry routes that stretch deeper into the Arctic surroundings.
During the ride, there are multiple stops along the way, including remote forest areas and open frozen sections where you can pause, switch drivers if sharing, and take in the surroundings. The guide leads the route, making sure the group stays together while adjusting pace based on conditions.
Midway through the experience, a stop is made at a traditional wilderness shelter where a BBQ lunch is prepared over an open fire. After time to rest and eat, the journey continues onto frozen lake areas before returning through forest trails back to the starting point.
The route is based in the wider Rovaniemi region, moving through forested Arctic terrain and frozen lakes just outside the city. These areas are selected for their long winter season, consistent snow cover, and varied landscapes that suit extended snowmobile travel.
Rovaniemi sits within the Arctic Circle, giving access to a mix of dense woodland tracks and wide open frozen spaces. The setting changes throughout the day, from sheltered forest routes to open lake sections where visibility stretches across the horizon.
A valid car driving licence is required for anyone driving a snowmobile. Participants must be at least 18 years old to drive, and comfortable handling a vehicle in winter conditions over a longer period of time.
No previous snowmobiling experience is needed as full instructions are provided before departure. Warm clothing is supplied, and the guide supports the group throughout the route to ensure safe and steady progression.
This outing is planned as a full-day Arctic journey rather than a short ride, allowing more time in different environments without rushing between locations. Routes are chosen based on current snow and ice conditions to keep the experience practical and varied.
Smaller group sizes help maintain a steady pace and give more time for guidance during stops and driving sections. The focus is on experiencing a wider range of Arctic terrain in one continuous trip, with structured breaks built into the day.
No prior experience is required, as a full safety briefing is given before the activity begins. You will be shown how to operate the snowmobile, including basic controls, spacing, and how to handle different terrain types encountered during the day.
The guide remains with the group throughout the route, helping with instructions during stops and ensuring everyone feels comfortable with the pace. The ride is structured so beginners can join while still offering plenty of driving time for those with more confidence.
The activity involves several hours of snowmobiling spread across a full day, with breaks built into the schedule. While driving is not physically intense, it does require focus and comfort with outdoor winter conditions.
Stops are included for rest, food, and warming up by the fire, helping to balance the time spent on the snowmobile. Participants should be comfortable sitting and controlling a vehicle for extended periods in cold weather.
Midway through the day, the group stops at a wilderness shelter where a BBQ lunch is prepared over an open fire. The setting is simple and traditional, offering a chance to rest and warm up before continuing the ride.
Food is served hot and eaten outdoors or in the shelter depending on conditions. This break also gives time to switch drivers if sharing a snowmobile and to relax before heading back out on the trails.
Yes, two people can share one snowmobile and take turns driving. This is commonly used so both participants can experience time behind the handlebars during the route.
Driver changes are made during planned stops under the guidance of the instructor. If preferred, a solo driving option can also be selected so one person rides their own snowmobile for the full experience.
