Experience the classic Lapland husky adventure with a small-group, self-driving safari across snowy forests and frozen lakes. Guests enjoy intimate groups, heritage-rooted guidance, and a warm barbecue to end the ride, all from a secluded family-run farm away from crowded tourist kennels.
Pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi is in a brand-new 2025 luxury 4×4 van, offering comfort and heated interiors on the short drive to the husky farm. Along the way, your guide will provide an overview of the day and share insights about the local Lapland wilderness. Upon arrival, you’ll meet the huskies and learn about their care, training, and the life of Arctic sled dogs.
A safety briefing and demonstration will follow before you take the reins of your own husky team. The safari spans approximately 6–10 km across snowy forests, frozen lakes, and wide-open tundra. Two guests can switch drivers halfway, ensuring everyone experiences both driving and riding. Guides accompany each team to provide support, answer questions, and maintain safety throughout the route.
After the ride, relax around a fire for hot drinks and a traditional Lapland barbecue of grilled sausages. This is a moment to warm up, take photos, and talk to your guide about the huskies and life on a Lapland farm. The total experience, including transfers and briefing, lasts about four hours, combining adventure, education, and comfort in one seamless visit.
The safari takes place on a private husky farm surrounded by Lapland’s untouched wilderness. Snowy forests, frozen lakes, and open tundra provide a scenic backdrop for the ride, with minimal light pollution and no interference from large tourist groups. The trails are maintained for safety but retain the feeling of authentic Arctic adventure.
Rovaniemi serves as the central hub for pickup and drop-off. The 2025 luxury 4×4 vans ensure reliable, heated transport and a smooth journey from the city to the farm. Along the route, guests pass through typical Lapland landscapes, including pine forests, small villages, and open snow-covered fields, offering a sense of the Arctic environment before even reaching the huskies.
Participants should be at least 6 years old; children under 15 ride in a sled pulled by the guide, while those 15+ may drive if at least 140 cm tall. Drivers must be physically able to manage a sled and respond to the team, though no prior experience is needed. All guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Guests should wear warm, layered clothing under the provided thermal overalls. Waterproof footwear is required, as boots are not supplied. Comfortable clothing will help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience while riding in Arctic temperatures. Any relevant medical conditions should be disclosed to ensure suitability.
