Cover long distances through Lapland’s remote wilderness on one of the most extensive snowmobile routes available. This full-day experience is designed for those who want more time riding, with a focus on exploring deeper forest trails and frozen landscapes. Small groups allow for a flexible pace, regular stops, and a more personal experience throughout the day.
Your day begins with pick-up for those staying outside the city centre, followed by a full safety briefing and introduction to snowmobiling. After gearing up in thermal clothing, helmet, and balaclava, you set off into the forests surrounding Rovaniemi. The route takes you away from busy tourist tracks, heading into quieter areas where you can fully focus on the ride. The guide adapts the pace and route based on the group’s ability and the conditions, ensuring both safety and enjoyment.
Throughout the day, there are regular stops to take photos, rest, and take in the surroundings. You’ll ride across frozen terrain, through forest trails, and along open areas that give a real sense of distance and space. Midway through the tour, the group gathers around a campfire for a warm lunch. Here, the guide demonstrates traditional fire-lighting techniques using flint and steel, while you warm up, eat, and prepare for the afternoon ride. The second half continues deeper into the wilderness before returning to the starting point.
This tour takes place in the wider Rovaniemi region, using a network of forest trails and frozen routes that extend far beyond the usual tourist areas. The terrain includes wooded sections, open frozen landscapes, and quiet backcountry paths, offering a varied and immersive riding experience.
Pick-ups are available from selected accommodations outside the city centre. Guests staying centrally begin the tour from the meeting point, with additional fees applying for more remote locations.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid physical driving licence (A1, T, A, or B category). Previous snowmobiling experience is not required, but a reasonable level of confidence and physical ability is recommended due to the length of the ride.
You will spend several hours outdoors, so it’s important to dress appropriately with warm base layers, socks, gloves, and a hat underneath the provided thermal gear. The tour may not be suitable for those with serious medical conditions or limited mobility due to the extended riding time.
The guides are highly experienced and prioritise both safety and enjoyment, adjusting the route and pace to suit the group. Small group sizes ensure each participant receives attention, guidance, and the space to enjoy long stretches of riding without feeling rushed.
This tour is designed for those who want more than a short introduction. With extended riding time, remote routes, and a focus on covering distance, it offers a deeper snowmobiling experience while still including cultural elements such as campfire cooking and traditional skills.
