Leave the roads behind and explore the Highlands from the water on a five-day paddleboarding expedition from Loch Shiel to the coast.
This is a journey through some of the wild landscapes of the West Highlands, combining long days on the water with wild camping, remote landscapes and the satisfaction of travelling under your own power. Over five days, we’ll make our way from Loch Shiel towards Loch Moidart, linking together lochs, rivers and short sections of land to create a true point-to-point adventure.
The route offers a fantastic opportunity to experience the Highlands from a completely different perspective. With mountains rising around the lochs and long stretches of wilderness, each day brings something different. There is no rush to tick off a list of attractions the focus is on enjoying the journey, travelling through the landscape and experiencing the freedom of a multi-day paddle.
This is a guided expedition rather than a skills course, so the emphasis is on the adventure and the experience. You don't need to be an expedition expert, but you should be comfortable spending extended periods on a paddleboard and have a reasonable level of fitness. Before setting off, we'll make sure you're familiar with the equipment, expedition setup and techniques needed for the journey.
Days will involve a mixture of paddling, navigation, breaks and setting up camp. We'll carry the equipment we need for the expedition, making this a genuine self-supported journey rather than a series of day trips.
As with any Highland expedition, the route and daily distances will depend on weather, water levels and conditions. The exact itinerary may therefore change to keep the group safe and make the most of the conditions we encounter.
