Experience a fascinating exploration of the Reptile Centre combined with a delightful ride through the New Forest. This tour begins in the charming village of Burley and takes you on a scenic, circular route that includes visits to historical sites and natural wildlife. Ideal for both individuals and small groups, this adventure offers a perfect blend of outdoor activity and local history.
Begin your journey in Burley, where you'll set off on a circular route through the heart of the New Forest. The ride leads you onto gravel tracks that meander through the forest, guiding you towards the Reptile Centre. On a sunny day, you might spot adders basking in the warmth.
Next, you'll visit the Portuguese Fireplace, a historic site that remains from a camp used by Portuguese troops during the First World War, who assisted in timber production. As you continue, the route takes you behind the Deer Sanctuary, where, if you're fortunate, you might catch a glimpse of the resident deer. The tour concludes back in Burley, a quaint village with plenty of shops and pubs where you can enjoy a well-deserved treat, such as a pint or an ice cream. There are also bike hire options available in Burley.
Burley, located in the heart of the New Forest, serves as the starting point for this tour. The village is known for its scenic beauty and historical significance, providing a scenic backdrop for your cycling adventure.
Participants should ensure their bikes are in good working condition, including having a puncture repair kit, spare inner tube, and a bike pump. Helmets must be within the manufacturer's warranty period (3 years from the date of manufacture).
A rider's information form will be sent via email after booking and must be completed and returned before the activity date.
We are committed to providing a high-quality experience with our fully qualified mountain bike leader who holds a Level 2 qualification accredited through British Cycling. Our team is DBS checked and approved, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
We also hold public liability insurance through British Cycling and have a fully qualified outdoor first aider on hand. This dedication to safety and professionalism ensures a memorable and secure adventure in the New Forest.
