Three classic Arctic stops fill one winter day: a short reindeer sledge and farm stories, a snowmobile run with a local lunch, then a 5 km husky safari. The order can swap with the farms, and the three pieces stay the same, so you still meet the animals, ride the machines and drive a husky sled before returning to town.
The usual sequence starts at a reindeer farm for a close look at the animals, a short traditional sledge and a talk about herding in this part of Lapland. Snowmobiling follows with kit and a briefing, then a local lunch when the clock says you need it. The kennel comes last on a typical day, with a 5 km husky run and time with the dogs before the transfer home.
If the farms need a different sequence, the team will say so at pickup so you know which stop comes first. You still do all three parts before returning to town. Transfers between the farm, the trails and the kennel are part of the hours, which is why the outing runs most of the day and why a late start squeezes the last stop.
A working farm, forest trails and a kennel sit within reach of Rovaniemi. Each stop has its own noise and smell, which is part of a real farm day rather than a staged circuit that never leaves a visitor path.
You are not staying in the city. The hours include moving between the three pieces, so the day feels full rather than like three separate tickets stitched together. Farm hosts and kennel teams do the animal halves, and the snowmobile line stays with the guides who work those trails.
No previous experience is needed on sled, snowmobile or husky line. You should be happy with a long winter day, animals, and sitting in the cold between stops, because standing at a farm is colder than sitting on a moving machine.
Children often sit on the husky sled and may share the reindeer sledge with an adult when the farm allows it. Share ages beforehand so the team can plan seating. Wear warm layers under the provided snowmobile kit, and bring a hat, because the farm and kennel pauses are when you cool down.
Full combo days have been built with local farms since 2005, planned as one outing so you are not stitching separate tickets together. Lunch sits in the middle when you actually need it, rather than leaving you to hunt a meal in town between stops.
Farm hosts and kennel teams do the animal halves; guides handle the snowmobile line. That split keeps each stop with people who work there every day, and it is why the reindeer stories, the trail briefing and the husky commands each come from the right yard.
Pickup is offered from the hotels and meeting points listed for this combo, including Santa Claus Village, selected Ounasvaara hotels, SantaSport, Postmaster Hotel, and the town office at Pirkkakatu 2. The team confirms your collection point and time so the three stops can stay in order.
This is a full day, so eat breakfast, wear warm layers, and allow the whole window. Outer kit is fitted when the snowmobile half begins, and you should keep the evening light afterwards because the outing runs most of the daylight hours.
A reindeer farm visit with a short sledge and herding stories, a snowmobile session, a local lunch, and a 5 km husky run with time at the kennel. Thermal snowmobile kit and listed hotel pickup are included.
The order can change with the farms. You still get all three animal and trail pieces on the same day.
Plan for 7 to 8 hours from pickup to drop-off. About six hours are the outing itself, including transfers between the farm, the trails and the kennel.
Your confirmation shows the live start time. Keep the evening light afterwards, because this is a full winter day.
Yes. Farms and the kennel sometimes need a different sequence, and the team will say so at pickup so you know which stop comes first.
The three pieces stay the same. You are not losing the reindeer, the snowmobile or the huskies if the clock is shuffled.
Children are welcome on this combo. They usually sit on the husky sled and can share the reindeer sledge with an adult when the farm allows it.
Share ages beforehand. A long day in the cold is harder on very small guests, even with good kit.
Yes. A local lunch is part of the middle of the day, usually after the snowmobile piece or as the farms dictate on that date.
Tell the team about allergies beforehand. Extra drinks or shop items at the farms are not included.
Yes. Two people share a sled and can swap who stands as driver on the 5 km run. Children sit on the sled rather than standing at the back.
The kennel team brief you before the line moves. You do not need husky experience, only a willingness to follow that briefing.
Listed hotels and meeting points in Rovaniemi, or the office on Pirkkakatu 2. The team confirms pickup point and time.
Be ready as a group and on time. A late start squeezes the last farm stop or the husky run at the end of the day.
Thermal overalls, boots, wool socks, mittens and a helmet are provided for the snowmobile half. You wear that kit or your own warm clothes on the farm stops as the guide directs.
Bring a hat and mid-layers. Standing at a farm between rides is colder than sitting on a moving machine.
The team may change the order or the snowmobile line if wind or snowfall rises. The animal stops still run when the farms are open.
If the day cannot run safely, they will contact you to reschedule. Keep your stay number to hand so they can reach you.
A phone number you will use during the stay, children's ages, and allergy notes for lunch. If anyone is uneasy around dogs or reindeer, say so before the date.
If you want single snowmobile driving, ask beforehand so they can check the extra for your group size.

About the centre
Rovaniemi
We have been sharing winter days around Rovaniemi since 2005, first with local teams and friends and now with travellers who want a real feel of life above the Arctic Circle. The work is still rooted in the same thing: small groups, Lappish hospitality, and time outdoors in the last wilderness of Europe.
Guides here grew up with this landscape. Days are built around snowmobile trails, campfire meals from local kitchens, and the quiet of the forest after the city lights fade. We take you into everyday Arctic life, not a staged version of it, and we look after the places we visit so the next generation can enjoy the same snow, silence, and night sky.
