Class II+ water and a five-section zip line fill a single Potrerillos day, with hotel pickup from Mendoza City and full kit for both parts. You move from the Mendoza River to the cables without stitching two outings together.
At Playa Gutiérrez you kit up in a wetsuit and helmet, run through paddle commands, and launch for about eight kilometres of lively Class II+ water, with a support kayak on the river. Time on the water is around 40 minutes. You change into dry clothes before the next part of the day, so you are not walking into the zip-line still dripping from the meltwater.
A short hike then leads into the zip-line. After a briefing you clip into a harness and fly five sections totalling about 700 metres, around 30 metres up, with guides moving you from platform to platform. Briefings are in English and Spanish. You return to Mendoza with the same vehicle once the last landing is done.
Potrerillos sits in the Mendoza foothills where the river leaves higher country and the valley opens. The rafting put-in is a working river beach, not a city quay, so you feel the Andes as soon as you kit up. Dry slopes and meltwater sit side by side here, which is why the same pocket can hold both a river run and a zip-line in one day.
The zip-line uses that same mountain pocket, crossing dry slopes above the river corridor rather than a forest canopy. From the cables you look down on water and open hillside, with the reservoir country further along the valley. Mendoza City is still the start and end of the day, so you are back downtown after a single loop west.
No previous rafting or zip-lining is required. You should be happy to get wet, walk a short approach to the lines, and follow a guide's calls. Everyday fitness is enough.
The minimum age is six. Closed shoes are required for the zip-line hike. You should be happy with height on the cables and with getting wet on the river.
River and zip-line sit on one outing with one pickup, which is how this Mendoza team has built combination days since 1966. Kit is fitted on site and a support kayak stays with the rafts.
Guides work this stretch of the Mendoza River and the Potrerillos lines through the season, and briefings run in English and Spanish. You get water and height in a single mountain day without arranging two separate transfers.
Hotel pickup covers the designated Mendoza City area and addresses within about 1.5 km of Plaza Independencia. Further out, you will be given a nearby meeting point such as Los Alamos or Acceso Sur.
Wear clothes you can change out of after the river and keep closed shoes for the zip-line hike. The drive goes west to Potrerillos. You return to Mendoza with the same vehicle.
You raft about eight kilometres of Class II+ water on the Mendoza River, then fly a five-section zip-line of about 700 metres at an average height of 30 metres. A short hike leads into the zip-line after you change from the river.
Hotel pickup in the designated Mendoza City area, full rafting kit, zip-line harness and helmet, bilingual guiding, a support kayak on the river, and personal accident insurance are included.
Time on the river is about 40 minutes for the eight-kilometre run. The zip-line block, including the short hike and briefing, is about one hour 30 minutes once you leave the bank.
The full outing including hotel pickup is around eight hours. You return to Mendoza the same day with the same vehicle.
No previous rafting or zip-lining is required. You get a safety briefing and paddle practice at Playa Gutiérrez before you launch, and another briefing before the zip-line.
You should be happy to get wet, walk a short approach, and follow instructions. The minimum age is six. Everyday fitness is enough for this combination.
For the river you get a full wetsuit, neoprene boots, helmet, paddle, and buoyancy aid. A support kayak stays with the group through the descent.
For the zip-line you get an individual harness and helmet. You do not need to bring your own technical kit. Keep phones clipped or in a bag you are happy to leave at the base.
Bring closed trainers for the zip-line approach, a full dry change after rafting, spare socks, sun protection, and a warm layer for the mountain.
Avoid flip-flops. Sunglasses need a strap if you wear them on the river. Pack a water bottle for the transfers between the beach and the zip-line platforms.
You are collected from hotels in the designated Mendoza City area, or from a nearby meeting point if you stay further out. Stays within about 1.5 km of Plaza Independencia are usually covered.
The rafting put-in is in the Playa Gutiérrez to Aforadora area near Potrerillos. The zip-line is in the same mountain pocket. You return to Mendoza with the same vehicle.
The river is rated Class II+, which means lively waves and a moderate challenge, not a beginner flat-water float. Guides steer and call paddle strokes from the back of the raft.
If you come out of the raft you will be in a buoyancy aid and helmet, and the briefing covers how to float and get back to the boat. Listen on the louder water.
These days run in typical mountain weather. If the river or the zip-line is not safe, the team may reschedule and will be in touch with the new plan.
You will get wet on the river even in sun. Dress so you can change into dry clothes afterwards before the short hike to the zip-line.
The minimum age is six. Anyone under 18 should come with a responsible adult who stays with them on the river and on the platforms.
Mention ages so the team can confirm the river and zip-line limits for your date. Closed shoes are required for the zip-line hike.
Lunch is not included. Bring a snack and water for the gap between the river and the zip-line, because that pause is for changing rather than a sit-down meal.
There is time to change after rafting before you walk into the zip-line course. Eat a proper meal before pickup or after you are back in Mendoza.

About the centre
Mendoza
We run guided adventure days and multi-day expeditions from Mendoza into the Andes: rafting and kayaking on the Mendoza River, zip-lining over Potrerillos, treks to Devil's Throat and Cerro Cabras, horseback rides through Lunlunta and the foothills, and longer routes toward Aconcagua and the high passes into Chile. Pickup is arranged from hotels in Mendoza City, with a nearby meeting point if you are staying outside that area, and a bilingual guide stays with you through the day.
Days are built around safety briefings, the right kit for the river or the trail, and enough time to take in the landscape rather than rush from one stop to the next. Combo days mix river, zip-line, hot springs or rappelling; longer programmes include camping, full board, and support on the mountain. Whether you want a few hours on the water or a multi-day crossing, the same local team looks after the logistics so you can focus on the Andes.
