Shaded rainforest paths in Tijuca National Park open onto waterfalls, historic lookouts and a picnic stop on a private six-hour guided hike.
Hotel pickup starts the day, then a licensed guide leads you into the Atlantic Forest for an easy to moderate walk of about 7 km round trip. Most of the trail stays in the shade, with roughly four hours of walking at a steady, unhurried pace between springs, small lakes and historic sites.
Stops include Vista Chinesa and Emperor's Table for wide city and bay views, Cascatinha Taunay and Gabriela waterfall for photos and a swim if you want one, plus a picnic-style snack break at Açude da Solidão. On the return drive there is often time for coconut water at a beachside kiosk before drop-off back at your hotel.
Tijuca National Park sits above Rio as one of the world's largest urban forests, with thick canopy, cool streams and viewpoints that look out over Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf and the Zona Sul beaches.
Pickup covers hotels in Rio de Janeiro, so you begin and end where you are staying rather than finding a separate trailhead. The day stays inside the park's best-known lookouts and waterfall stops before the scenic drive back toward the coast.
Guests should be happy walking on uneven forest paths for several hours at a light to medium pace. A basic level of fitness is enough; the route is not technical climbing, but it does involve ups and downs and about 7 km on foot.
Children aged 9 and over are welcome when they can manage the distance with the group. Bring a swimsuit if you want to paddle at the waterfalls, and wear shoes with good grip for damp trail sections.
Private pacing lets the guide match the day to your group, with time for wildlife spotting, swim breaks and stories at the lookouts instead of a rushed checklist.
Hotel pickup is included, picnic snacks are part of the plan, and the focus stays on waterfalls, viewpoints and quiet forest stretches that show why Tijuca is Rio's classic green escape.
Hotel pickup in Rio de Janeiro is included. Confirm your hotel address when you book so the guide can collect you at the agreed time. Wear trail-ready shoes and bring swimwear if you plan to enter the water at the falls.

It suits beginners who are comfortable walking on uneven forest paths and happy to pause for photos, swim stops and viewpoints along the way.
Yes. Pickup from hotels in Rio de Janeiro is included at the start of the day.
After the forest stops and coastal pause, the guide returns you to your hotel so you do not need a separate meeting point.
Guests need to be at least 9 years old and able to manage the walking distance with the group.
Younger walkers should be used to several hours outdoors, including short climbs and damp trail sections near the waterfalls.
Yes, when conditions allow. Bring a swimsuit and towel if you want to paddle at stops such as Gabriela waterfall.
The guide chooses safe entry points and keeps swim time flexible so the group can enjoy the cool water without rushing the rest of the route.
Allow about six hours in total, including pickup, walking time, viewpoint and waterfall stops, the picnic break, and the return to your hotel.

Yes. The outing is private for your booking, with group sizes from 1 to 15 people so the guide can keep the pace comfortable.
That format leaves room for wildlife spotting, swim breaks and longer stops at the lookouts when your group wants them.
Picnic-style snacks are included at the forest stop near Açude da Solidão.
Extra food, drinks and coconut water on the return are at your own cost unless stated otherwise on the day, so bring a little cash or a card for optional treats.
Wear breathable clothes and closed shoes with grip for damp trail sections. Pack a light layer, sun protection and swimwear if you plan to enter the water.
A small daypack with water and a towel keeps the walk comfortable between shaded stretches and open viewpoints.
Monkeys, coatis, birds and turtles are often spotted in the park. Sightings are never guaranteed, but the guide keeps an eye out along the quieter stretches.
Moving quietly near the lakes and waterfall edges usually gives the best chance of a closer look without disturbing the animals.
Typical stops include Vista Chinesa, Emperor's Table, Cascatinha Taunay, Recanto dos Pintores, Gabriela waterfall and the picnic lakeside at Açude da Solidão.
When timing allows, the return drive also pauses at a beachside kiosk for coconut water and sea views before hotel drop-off.
