The route combines physical challenge with immersive travel experiences. Riders move through regions shaped by volcanoes, indigenous traditions, and constantly changing ecosystems. As the journey progresses, the scenery shifts rapidly. Support vehicles and expert guides accompany the experience throughout, allowing riders to focus on the journey while enjoying flexibility and safety on the road.
📍 Location
This expedition travels through some of Ecuador’s most iconic cycling regions, including the Avenue of Volcanoes, Cotopaxi surroundings, Andean valleys, and cloud forest transition zones. Ecuador’s compact geography allows dramatic environmental changes within short distances, creating one of the most diverse cycling destinations in Latin America.
The routes combine paved mountain roads, secondary countryside paths, and scenic remote sections that showcase both natural beauty and cultural richness. High elevations, volcanic landscapes, and panoramic mountain views define much of the experience.
⚠️ Prerequisites
Participants should have previous cycling experience and feel comfortable riding for multiple consecutive days on varied terrain and at high altitude. The tour includes long riding days, elevation gain, and changing weather conditions that require good physical preparation.
A strong fitness level is recommended to fully enjoy the experience. Riders should also feel confident cycling on mountain roads and adapting to different terrain conditions throughout the journey.
⭐ Why Choose Us
Our team combines expert cycling logistics with deep local destination knowledge, creating an experience that balances challenge, safety, and authentic connection. Support vehicles, carefully designed routes, and experienced local guides ensure riders can focus entirely on the adventure.
Beyond the cycling itself, this journey offers meaningful encounters with Ecuador’s landscapes and communities. From boutique accommodations to thoughtfully planned daily routes, every element is designed to create a seamless and memorable expedition through one of the world’s most diverse cycling destinations.
The Epic Cycling Quest is designed for active travelers with a good fitness level and previous biking experience. Riders can expect a mix of mountain climbs, high-altitude routes, scenic descents, and varied terrain throughout the journey. Some days are more demanding than others, but support vehicles and guides accompany the group throughout the experience.
This tour is better suited for intermediate to experienced riders due to the altitude, distance, and terrain involved. Beginners with strong fitness and some previous cycling experience may still enjoy parts of the journey, but it is important to feel comfortable riding for multiple days in changing conditions.
That is completely fine. Optional activities are designed to add flexibility to the experience, and participation is never required. Travelers can instead relax at the accommodation, enjoy the surrounding scenery, or take time to recover before the next day’s ride.
We recommend comfortable cycling clothing suitable for changing mountain weather conditions. Layering is important, as temperatures can shift quickly between high-altitude Andean regions and lower cloud forest areas. A windproof or waterproof jacket, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, and proper biking shoes are highly recommended.
Yes, a meal is included as part of the biking programme. It is usually provided after the activity to allow time for rest and refuelling.
Additional snacks can be brought if preferred, especially for the longer travel times involved in the day.
Cotopaxi National Park is located approximately 1.5 to 2 hours south of Quito by road, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The route travels through the famous Avenue of Volcanoes, offering impressive views of the surrounding Andean landscapes along the way.
