Curious about scuba diving but not yet certified? This beginner-friendly experience introduces you to diving in a safe, structured way, combining classroom learning, pool practice, and a real ocean dive in Madeira’s clear coastal waters.
The experience begins with a classroom briefing covering how scuba equipment works, basic safety rules, breathing techniques, and what to expect underwater. This session is interactive and designed to build confidence before entering the water.
Next, you’ll move to a shallow-water pool session to practise key skills in a controlled environment. Here, you’ll learn how to breathe comfortably through a regulator, clear your mask, and adjust buoyancy. Instructors work closely with each participant to ensure everyone feels relaxed before progressing.
Once comfortable, you’ll head into the sea for your first open-water dive. The dive lasts approximately 45–50 minutes, depending on air consumption, and reaches a maximum depth of 12 metres. Guided at all times, you’ll explore Madeira’s rocky reef environment and observe marine life while focusing on calm, steady breathing and controlled movement underwater.
The experience takes place in Funchal, with initial training conducted in a classroom and pool facility before transferring to the sea. Shore dive sites are selected based on daily conditions to ensure safe entry, good visibility, and suitable depth progression for beginners.
Madeira’s coastal waters are known for stable temperatures and diverse marine life, offering an ideal environment for a first dive. Exact meeting details are provided after booking.
Participants must be at least 12 years old and able to swim. No previous diving experience is required. A medical questionnaire will be sent automatically after booking and must be completed before the session.
This experience is not suitable for pregnant travellers or individuals with heart, respiratory, circulatory, or certain psychological conditions. Flying is not permitted within 12 hours after diving.
This introduction is structured to prioritise confidence and safety at every stage. The combination of classroom theory, pool practice, and guided ocean diving allows beginners to progress gradually rather than being rushed into open water.
Small group limits ensure close instructor supervision, clear communication, and personal feedback. All equipment is modern and included, allowing you to focus fully on learning and enjoying your first underwater experience.
