Whether you're standing on a paddleboard for the first time or enjoying a relaxed paddle in a kayak, this lakeside experience offers a great way to get out on the water. Calm conditions, quality equipment and plenty of space to explore make it suitable for beginners, families and anyone looking for an enjoyable outdoor activity.
Rather than following a structured lesson, these sessions are designed to give you the freedom to enjoy the lake at your own pace. After checking in, you'll receive a safety briefing covering the basics of paddling, safety procedures and how to get the most from your chosen equipment before heading onto the water.
Across the lake, you'll find plenty of room to paddle, practise your balance and enjoy the surroundings. Paddleboards are a popular choice for those wanting to improve balance and core strength, while kayaks provide a stable and comfortable option for exploring the water. Double kayaks allow two people to paddle together, and canoes offer space for families or small groups to share the experience.
During your session, you can take things as slowly or as actively as you like. Many visitors enjoy a gentle paddle around the lake, while others challenge themselves to improve their technique or spend more time standing on their board. Staff remain nearby if assistance is needed, but the experience is largely self-guided, allowing you to enjoy the water independently.
Planning a school trip, birthday celebration, corporate event or family gathering? Paddleboarding and kayaking provide a relaxed activity that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages and abilities, making them popular choices for group bookings.
With space for up to 50 people on the water at one time, larger groups can enjoy paddling together or combine their booking with other activities available around the lake. Bespoke group packages can be arranged for special occasions and organised events.
Nestled beside an eight-hectare lake in St Osyth, this activity takes place in a spacious setting that provides plenty of room for paddlers of all abilities. The calm water makes it particularly suitable for beginners while still offering enough space for more experienced paddlers to enjoy themselves.
Visitors can make use of free parking located opposite the lake, along with lockers, changing facilities and an on-site café serving hot and cold food and drinks. Friends and family are welcome to watch from the lakeside decking area, making it a pleasant destination even for non-participants.
Anyone taking part must be confident enough to jump into the water and swim approximately 25 metres unaided. Participants must also be at least 1.2 metres tall and weigh less than 120kg.
Children aged 6 and 7 can participate in a double kayak or canoe when accompanied by an adult. Paddleboards and single kayaks are available for those aged 8 and above. Participants under 18 require an adult to remain on site throughout the session. Jewellery and piercings must be removed before entering the water.
Away from busy rivers and coastal conditions, the lake offers a welcoming environment for learning, practising and simply enjoying time on the water. The calm setting allows visitors to build confidence without feeling rushed, making it ideal for first-time paddlers.
Alongside paddleboarding and kayaking, visitors have access to a range of additional watersports and family-friendly activities around the lake. This makes it easy to turn a simple paddle session into a full day out for couples, families, friends and larger groups.
No previous experience is required to enjoy paddleboarding, kayaking or canoeing on the lake. Many visitors are trying these activities for the very first time and quickly find themselves feeling comfortable on the water.
Before you begin, staff provide a safety briefing and basic guidance covering technique and equipment use. Once that's complete, you're free to enjoy the lake at your own pace while staff remain nearby should you need assistance.
These sessions are based on equipment hire rather than formal instruction. After receiving your safety briefing and introduction, you'll be free to explore independently.
Staff remain close by throughout the day and are happy to help if required, but there will not be an instructor accompanying you on the water during your session.
Paddleboards are used while standing, kneeling or sitting on a large board and are great for improving balance and coordination. Many beginners start by kneeling before progressing to standing when they feel comfortable.
Kayaks offer a seated experience and are generally considered the easier option for those wanting a more relaxed paddle. Double kayaks and canoes are also available for visitors who would like to share the experience with others.
Most visitors wear swimwear, sports clothing or comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting wet. Footwear is optional, and many people choose to go barefoot while paddling.
You are welcome to bring your own wetsuit if you have one. Wetsuits can also be hired on the day if conditions are cooler or if you would simply prefer the extra warmth.
Yes. Children aged 6 and 7 can join an adult in a double kayak or canoe, making it a popular family activity.
For paddleboards and single kayaks, participants must be aged 8 or above. Anyone under 18 must have a supervising adult remaining on site throughout the session.
Falling into the water is all part of the experience and happens regularly, particularly when learning to paddleboard. The lake is supervised, and buoyancy aids are provided for all participants.
Provided you meet the swimming requirements, you should be able to climb back onto your board or kayak and continue enjoying your session. Staff are available if assistance is required.
